The meat bun’s tears seemed unending.

Though it was a strange object beyond imagination, Elaro would often go out on missions and see many odd phenomena. Besides, it was just a meat bun, and one that was crying terribly pitiably at that. It didn’t look the least bit threatening.

With a white and plump bun body and two big, blue, glistening eyes, the meat bun actually looked pretty adorable.

“Shh, don’t be scared.” Elaro patted the bun as gently as he could, though he was a little worried as to whether the methods used to comfort a child would work on a meat bun.

The meat bun’s waterfall of tears slowly began to shrink, until only the tears on its face were left. Although it was still crying, its mood had obviously improved. Upon seeing this, Elaro put even more effort into comforting the meat bun.

Grisia silently watched his student, who took unexpectedly proper care of the meat bun.

“Congratulations to the players for obtaining the Sinner of Pride’s Staff.”

Staff obtained! Grisia clung to the wooden staff, which was rather big and unwieldy for a child. He even had to use both hands to hold it. That said, a child’s form had very little mobility to begin with anyway.

Having successfully received what he had wanted, Grisia once again confirmed that the readers truly were on their side. He found this latter piece of information even more reassuring than the staff itself.

Grisia raised the staff and got to the heart of the matter. “Aldrizzt, hurry and teach me all the lightning magic there is!”

Hearing this, Aldrizzt steeled himself. He said, “I’m not too familiar with lightning magic, so teaching you ‘all the lightning magic there is’ is impossible. While I do have some knowledge of intermediate and low-level lightning magic, I only know a couple of high-level techniques, and very roughly at that.”

Grisia replied unhappily, “In the early days, I had heard that you were not very familiar with wind magic, and that it was only because Teacher Neo had pushed you that you learned the Spell of Flight for his convenience. I had also heard that you were not familiar with psychic magic, and now you say you’re not familiar with lightning magic. So tell me, mage, what kind of magic are you familiar with, then?”

… Ah, I suddenly feel some resentment coming on, just like—just like what happens during my daily interactions with Neo! You two really are teacher and student! Aldrizzt thought. Continued

Happy July! o/ We hope you are enjoying your July! I almost forgot, but this is the time of the year when we especially like to make our recruitment pitch. We’re working on stockpiling more chapters, as we are down to the wire with several series, and we would love your help! We are specifically looking for translators at the moment. If you are interested in translating with us, please see our recruitment page. Short term translators are always welcome too!

A new teaser for Dominion’s End was posted recently, featuring Xiao Sha’s first meeting with Shuyu. Although we have no news of any new books yet, we hope this means Dominion’s End v7 and other books are on the horizon.

Last month, Ohmygod won the poll of being the ultimate pet! Ezart was in the middle of the pack. 8D

The poll this month is about what animal Grisia would be! This poll was submitted by Weirdo. The poll came with some fun emojis next to each choice too, but unfortunately, those couldn’t be included in the poll in the sidebar, so I will include them here in this post instead.
If Grisia Sun was an animal, which one would he be?
1. An elephant, because of very good memory 😬
2. A snake, because he holds terrible grudges 😈
3. A sloth, because he is very lazy and makes others do his biddings 🙄
4. A paon, because he’s a show off 😎

We want to hear your poll ideas!

ETA: Still working on the EH and ILT chapters. They’ll be coming before the August update post!
ETA 2: All chapters are now up!

Illusions, Lies, Truth Volume 5: The Fallen, Jiu Ge, Part One

Original novel in Chinese by: 御 我 (Yu Wo)

Prologue—translated by lucathia (proofread by Minthe & J Tao)

Jiang Ziya took in a deep breath, feeling like he was between a rock and a hard place. Just as he was about to ring the doorbell, Lu Yang, standing next to him, pressed the button before he could.

After an ugly shriek, the rusty, painted steel door opened by a sliver. From within, a pair of unfocused, spiritless eyes peered out…

“H-Hello, we are Jian Zhi’s classmates.”

The door was immediately thrown open. Tears swam in the old granny’s eyes. She first angled her head to the side and wiped her tears. Then, she smiled and waved them in. “Jian Zhi’s classmates! Come in. It’s too warm outside. Don’t just stand there foolishly. Better be makin’ your way in quickly.”

Jiang Ziya and Lu Yang first exchanged a glance, then looked behind them before following the old granny inside.

After walking in, they scrutinized their surroundings. The building was old, but the courtyard was a decent size. However, it was full of weeds, and many of the potted plants looked wilted from the hot weather.

The lights in the hallway were off, which actually made it rather dark during the day. The lights were also off in the living room they entered. There was a lot of random stuff piled beside the wall, and many photo albums were spread across the table.

Jiang Ziya glanced at Lu Yang. The latter nodded at him, which finally allowed Jiang Ziya to relax a bit.

The old granny knew that her house was a mess. She explained a bit helplessly, “My old bones can’t handle the cleanin’. I’m really sorry. Sit down. Granny will steep some tea for you. Sorry, Granny doesn’t have any other beverages.”

Part 30: Take out the Meat Bun—Wait, Spinner First—translated by J Tao (proofread by Minthe; C/E edited by lucathia)

Elaro looked at the words “personally created by the Demon King” from the description of the crystal doll, and couldn’t help looking at the expression on his teacher’s face. Surprisingly, the latter looked quite calm, without an expression of much shock.

“Congratulations to the players for receiving the Author’s Room and Cursed Smile. Please designate which player will receive which prize.”

Grisia furrowed his brow. The author’s room was a shelter that could be used for an hour each time, and three times in each world at that, so it was pretty good. However, there was too much uncertainty for the cursed smile to be practical, so why had the readers chosen it?

After Charles’s explanation, Grisia had just barely understood the uses for the other two options—the virtual game helmet and the SLR camera. Although the utility of the virtual game helmet was not very clear, at least there was still the camera as an option. Similarly, though the photograph would capture a random timeframe, at least it was far more useful than the cursed smile…

Perhaps the readers are not as cooperative as I had thought? Grisia thought hesitantly.
