January 2013 Chapters
  1. The Legend of Sun Knight V5C2: “Sending out Annoying Subordinates to Disrupt Peace”
  2. The Legend of Sun Knight Side Stories 11: “Doing a Small Favor”
  3. ½ Prince V9C1: Feng Long Ming, Part One

Hey everyone! We have some exciting things going on over at our staff blog. Don’t forget to check out that side of our site from time-to-time. For example, dahlys scanlated a doujin manhua that illustrates LSK V4C10 which can be read over here, and raylight has posted a staff interview with our thoughts after completing 1/2 Prince, which can be read over here!

Although the main story of 1/2 Prince has ended, that doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of Prince. This month brings the first chapter of the 1 volume that follows after the main story. This volume isn’t usually known as volume 9, but for simplicity’s sake, we’ll be numbering the book “volume 9.”

Once we post the 11th LSK side story “Doing a Small Favor,” we’ll have caught up with all of the non-spoilerish side stories for LSK! There are only three side stories left, two of which have spoilers for future events of LSK. We will publish these side stories once we reach a certain point in our translations. The third side story is “When Teacher Wasn’t Yet Teacher,” one of the promised New Year stories Yu Wo said she would write. Currently, she has only posted part 1 out of 2, so we don’t know yet if there will be any spoilers for future LSK events. If there aren’t any large spoilers, that will most likely be the next side story you see translated from us. Yu Wo is still writing many side stories for LSK, so the list will continue growing.

Finally, we would like to remind everyone to please abide by our rules which can be found at the top of our site. Please do not take credit for our work, and do not distribute or modify our work either. This also applies to foreign languages. If you wish to translate one of Yu Wo’s works into a different language based off of PR’s translations, you must contact us first. We welcome people to start international translation groups with us!

With all that said, enjoy the rest of the month. :) LSK is up first!

      @Jasae Bushae

      Generally, not much spoilers, but I would like to suggest that we try and refrain from talking about Ah Ye’s (Daren in OSS’s translations) identity, for the sake of readers who have not read Eclipse Hunter and are new to No Hero, okay? It’s more fun to leave them to figure out for themselves XP

      Any other character isn’t much of a spoiler though, so you can talk all you want XD

    • [PR]raylight

      @Jasae Bushae
      And well, try not to spoil people about deeeeep plot in Eclipse Hunter too. But then again, most of the plot is actually in volume 5, if I recall, so OSS haven’t reached there yet….

    • @[PR]raylight
      Here’s another question. Is No Hero a direct sequel to Eclipse Hunter, or is it more of a spin off/side story/gaiden?

    • [PR]raylight

      @黒
      Hmm, it is a direct sequel! Just that instead of Ah Ye (I think most of you know him as Daren), we’ll be having a vampire butler as our main character this time. The story will be from his point of view, and will focus on an non-hero’s point of view about heroes. Ah Ye is still one of the main characters though, it’s just that the story isn’t from his point of view.

    • @[PR]raylight
      Ah, hence the title. I didn’t think vampires existed in the Eclipse Hunter world. But considering some of the characters, I can’t say I’m that surprised they do.

  8. 任馨恩

    Thanks so much!!!
    Btw, is null a real translator? All she/he/it says is :”null” in varying forms…I’m actually curious so please don’t be offended! :3

  9. Bites

    Personally, I stalk PR everyday for new chapters (and I know I’m not the only one).

  10. LennyThynn

    So excited for LSK<3

    Been checking here twice a day since the 1st of January, haha XD So glad the list is up now<3
    You all do a fantastic job, hope you guys all had a good holiday<3

  11. angelmicx

    Yeah, me too… I check once a day since Jan.1 so I could just see if the translations are up. If not, I usually re-read random chapters of HP or LSK and right now I’m on the verge of memorizing the random chapters, word for word.. Haha.. So happy that I’ll have something to look now. Hehe.

  12. NoOmico

    Idont mean to be pushy girl but can ask when LSK new chaPter will be here X”( I just missed it ..and thank u for all hard work !! U are doing great job wish u all the best

  13. AC

    *raises hand*
    I have a question!

    When (because I understand it’s not an “if”, it’s a “when”) you started translating No Hero, which name are you gong to use, Daren or Ah Ye?
    Because I would like you to stick to Daren, but if you have a very convincing reason to keep it Ah Ye, I’ll support your decision.

    • [PR]raylight

      We’ll probably be using another name instead of Daren/Ah Ye. We’ll try to westernize the names that we can, so that it’s easier to read, and for other various reasons. Yet, we wouldn’t be using Daren because the original name in Chinese actually holds a very strong relation to the ‘Night’, so we would like to keep that meaning intact if we translate it. (In the original names, Devon’s name actually has the word ‘Day’ in it, and Daren’s name ‘Night’) In the event that we can’t find a suitable name, we’ll probably just stick to the Chinese ones though. (Since Eclipse Hunter/No Hero isn’t really set in a European setting)

      Is that fine with you?

    • Jasae Bushae

      @[PR]raylight
      Wowwie, i had no idea there was a naming theme like that @_@ though…given some of the names in sun knight and 1/2 prince i probably shouldnt be that surprised… XD
      Wells going by that logic theres loads of names that mean day and night (though all of the ones i can think of are girls names… ^^; ) But its neat to know the people at PR put thought into this kind of thing.

      As a side note, does the butlers name have any special meaning/significance?

    • [PR]lucathia

      Yes, his name means “morning” (or searching for the morning) which is very ironic. :)

      We’ve already discarded a lot of possible names since so many are girl names, haha.

    • [PR]raylight

      @[PR]lucathia
      Yeah, I know right… Not only does it has to be matching names (a pair), the two names can’t be overly feminine as well… A lot of names for Day and Night are for females too OTL (Such as Dawn/Dusk, etc)

      And then Zhao Suo has yet another ‘morning’ name *scratches head*

    • Jasae Bushae

      @[PR]lucathia
      pfffft XD ah, Yu Wo never fails to crack me up XD
      At least that should be a pretty doable name to translate ^^ ….oddly enough it seems like theres more naming leeway for dawn and evening names than there is for day and night…
      Umm, while on the subject of names, why does OSS and PR have different names for sun? grisia/creus

    • [PR]raylight

      My guess is that OSS based the name on the official Thai version (Grecius). Greus looks rather similar, and it exists as a last name, meaning “cross” (Pretty fitting actually)

      As for Grisia, we followed what Yu Wo translated the names to (In this post: http://www.wretch.cc/blog/kim1984429/13492263) Generally, we just follow the names that the author picks, unless there’s something seriously wrong/off with it. (Since Yu Wo is not well-versed in English, so..) One such example would be Hell: Yu Wo says he’s name is “Lolan”, but we at PR! came to an unanimous decision to change it to “Roland” because it is the correct translation from Chinese to English and doesn’t sound like a failed attempt of a name.

    • Jasae Bushae

      @[PR]Raylight
      So sometimes Yu Wo announces english versions of names while at other times she leaves it out? *thinks on it* Is it because Sun Knight was more westerny while hunter/hero were more local?
      *goes back to cackling over the main from eclipse hunter having a butler whose name is basically morning hunter*

    • [PR]lucathia

      Well, I’ve actually seen A Ye referred to as “Night” in drawings sold of him. Might even be a good nickname for him. No Hero is more like 1/2 Prince. It takes place in a futuristic world. There’s actually a mix of oriental and non oriental people.

    • [PR]raylight

      @[PR]lucathia
      I think it was also because the Thai fans sent a letter to ask her on the English names of the Twelve Holy Knights, and also LSK is supposed to be European setting. As Luka says, No Hero is more of a futuristic world thingy. It’s not as bad a mix of oriental and Westren as 1/2 Prince (Actually, 1/2 Prince is almost completely oriental, now that I think about it), it’s not that obvious, but it’s not completely European either. (Besides, with globalisation, I think all cultures would have come together by that time anyways)

      To Luka: I do agree that the nickname can be cool, but if we use ‘Night’ for Ah Ye… wouldn’t his brother become ‘Day’? XD And the thesaurus isn’t helping. Sunshine- *shot* But really, ‘Daylight’ or ‘Light’ wouldn’t work much better either… Hmm. How about ‘Daye’? XD It looks like a name and it kind of brings the meaning across…?

    • Jasae Bushae

      Umm…to throw my own two cents into the naming ring theres also playing around with gloom/bright, fulgid/dull, dark/shiny, shiny/dusky
      ….ouch, you have your hands full ^^;
      umm, as a sidenote, how many light/bright/day/sun themed names does Yu Wo have?

    • @[PR]raylight
      Since Daren’s original name is 日向夜 (Ri Xiang Ye), according to OSS, how does he get the nickname 阿夜 (Ah Ye)? Going from Daren to Dar is pretty self-explanatory, so I never thought about it before. The character meaning ‘night’ at the end is the same, but where does the ‘Ah’ come from?

    • [PR]lucathia

      “A” is like adding -chan/-kun to a person’s name for Japanese. In 1/2 Prince, Feng Lan is more generally known as Xiao Lan, with “xiao” meaning little. “A” is used similarly, mostly for guys. Kind of like a form of endearment. It usually becomes so much a part of someone’s name though, that everyone just uses the a or xiao.

    • SnowStorm

      @[PR]raylight
      Uwah, I don’t know why, but honestly, I prefer the original Chinese names. So… could you keep Ah Ye as Ah Ye and perhaps not translate it at all? x.x

    • [PR]raylight

      @SnowStorm
      We’ll do that if we don’t find any English translation that fits our taste! The only problem in doing so is that Ah Ye’s name has to be consistent with his brother, so his brother’s name would have to be Chinese as well.. (And maybe several others)

    • [PR]lucathia

      No, no updates on that. And she hasn’t written the next part yet either, boo. I’m hoping she’ll finish it for Chinese New Year, haha.

    • Jasae Bushae

      @[PR]lucathia
      im hoping it somehow increasingly grows from Yu Wo developing continuous ideas and it ends up being the size of unbeatable & covers Neo’s relationship with all the knights of his generation XD

    • [PR]raylight

      @Jasae Bushae
      Yu Wo wrote the second part and it’s released as a new year special! Problem is, she overwrote again… so now this will be a three parts saga. XD

  14. Noomico

    Please !! Please update more of legend of sun !!! Iwill considerate it as a birth day gift :))) 3 chapters or 4 will be great XD. Thank u again for all of u for ur hard work !! Wish u all the best

    • Jasae Bushae

      @[PR]dahlys
      not to be pressure at all but just for the curiosity of us folks who like to anticipate these things, what months are the least busy for those at PR generally?

    • [PR]lucathia

      Least busy? There is no such month… People are busy during different times of the year, haha…

    • [PR]dahlys

      @[PR]lucathia
      Still, more people than usual disappear when it’s time for finals or major exams (e.g. A levels [oct/nov], SAT [apr/may])~

      and Feb is Chinese New Year! *hand over your red packets!! And cookies!*

  15. Souljah

    Just wondering, what’s currently holding back the translations? Is it the translating or proofreading or the final check by the seniors before it goes out? Cause if it’s the proofreading, then why don’t you open up the slots for proofreaders? Or is it that we can apply anytime we like and you’ll get back to us if it’s okay…?
    And thank you for the translations! You guys and girls do a marvelous job.

    • [PR]dahlys

      Right now two steps are slow: english-only proofreading and chinese-english editing (ensure that translation is accurate). We are considering opening the proofreader applications soon (please wait for the announcement!), but there aren’t enough active CE editors around (or they are busy translating instead of editing).

      NOTE: PR! needs more translators to cope with our new series too!

    • [PR]dahlys

      Eh… But CE editors are promoted from translators who have shown that they are proficient in both English and Chinese, PR doesn’t accept direct applications anymore. We just need more translators so the CE editors can go back to editing instead of translating chapters.

  16. Aerebes

    I know i might be a bit late to the party, so to speak, but if your still struggling to find a good light-based name, what about Ray? It’s an actual name, and if readers are watching for a theme, they will notice it’s relation to light.

    • Aerebes

      @Aerebes
      sorry about double post, but after posting the first one, i found one that could work as a name for Darren/Ah Ye,
      “Murk” which means ‘a gloomy darkness’ which considering his background…

    • [PR]raylight

      @Aerebes
      Thanks for your suggestions! We’ll take them into consideration. (We’re still thinking of the names, haha)

      Though if possible, I’ll rather not use Ray cause that’s what I go by (*cough*Then I’ll have people calling me the Sun Emperor, along with Sun OTL) (*regrets using light-based name*)

    • SnowStorm

      @Aerebes
      Oooh, oh, if it’s light based names, I have two suggestions then. ^^
      How’s about Aaron? I think that has something to do with light.
      And Lucio, or Lucius. O.O

    • [PR]raylight

      Haven’t considered Aaron, but I did look up the other two! Thanks though, we’re still thinking~

  17. Sproutkat

    Question: Are you guys going to use the Solaris Emperor, or the Sun Emperor.?

  18. Noomi

    Usually which months u are busy beside jan and feb ??? Hope u will have a good support soon XD and thank u for ur awesome work
