The First Chapter to Ending the Demon King: Revealing the Truth behind the Demon King – translated by Raylight

……

……………..

……………..

Child!

“…?”

Child, my child, why were you so foolish as to trust others? It’s okay even if you don’t trust me; actually, that’s even better. It’s okay even if you kill me or seal me. The most important thing is, don’t trust anybody and don’t trust anyone!

“… Scarlet?” Hearing the word “seal,” I finally understood whose voice this was. In a hurry, I replied, “I don’t want to be the demon king!”

I only didn’t want you to die! If you don’t become the demon king, you would definitely perish! In the end, you really died.

I died?

Yes, you were killed by the last demon king candidate, remember?

The last demon king candidate… Roland! It’s Roland who killed me. He and Pink set a trap, and then they killed me!

After remembering everything, I still didn’t dare believe it at all. I growled, “I don’t understand, why would Roland kill me? Even if he is the last demon king candidate… I don’t believe it!”

Pink as well. Why would she harm me? We have already known each other for more than ten years. How is it possible that she would watch me bleed to death… I don’t believe it!

You don’t understand us. So many years have already passed. Within all three of us, the only left thing that we are concerned about is our own child. Everything else is not important, not important!

“That’s impossible! There must be some kind of misunderstanding!”

Sigh, then I’ll just let you see it all!

Child, remember, next time, don’t trust anyone else again.

It all? Wait, Scarlet!

In the darkness burst a sudden great release of light. It was simply so blinding that even my eyes hurt, and I couldn’t help but use my hands to cover my eyes… Wait a moment! How am I able to see this?

“Oh no, I’m late!”

A child ran past me. The expression on his face was a little nervous, not much like an expression that a child would show. However, those fair and tender cheeks likely explained that he was definitely not any older than twelve years old.

Fair and tender… I thought that I would never be able to use this description ever again. That’s because no matter how exceedingly good a blind man’s sensing ability is, even if above average and close to godliness, he is definitely unable to sense whether something is fair and tender or not. One is not able to tell something like color when sensing, and without color, nothing will appear tender no matter what the object is.

However, rather than the matter of “I suddenly can see,” what was more shocking was that the kid just now had golden hair and blue eyes with fair skin, and his face was so familiar that it couldn’t be any more familiar… If that wasn’t myself, there’s an eighty percent chance that it was my future child!

Unfortunately, right now, I don’t even know who my wife is, let alone my child. That should be me all right. To say it more accurately, it was me before the age of twelve.

I looked all around me, to the left and to the right. This was a place that couldn’t be more familiar. This was the Holy Temple’s square, and I couldn’t have mistaken the time either. That’s because I saw my teacher, and in front of him, there were ten children who were about ten years old lining up. They were selecting the young Sun Knight!

“Perhaps it was because of your beautiful blond hair!”

This line… I was stunned for a moment. At this time, a brown-haired kid walked past me. I shot a glance at him by reflex, and only then did I abruptly recall who he was…

Roland!

Upon remembering who he was, I glued my eyes to him hurriedly. That was because at that time, I had only seen his back as he left. Thus, right now, I wanted to see his every step and expression clearly.

Did he leave with anger and unwillingness? Did he cry? At that time, every child who wasn’t selected had cried. Did Roland do the same?

I even specifically walked in front of him, wanting to see what kind of expression he was showing at the moment. He walked toward me, head-on, and on his face there was… no expression?

I stared at him, but he had no expression on his face at all. He looked as though he was in a blank daze. This was simply too strange; how is it possible that he would show this kind of expression at this kind of time?

He walked straight onward, and though I was blocking his path ahead, I had no intention of letting him pass. I really wanted to block his way and ask him what exactly he was thinking… But he passed directly through my body without even stopping.

I turned around to look at him. He walked directly to a woman’s side, and that woman’s left hand was already holding onto another child. The child was wearing a cloak and had her head lowered, and the hood covered the child’s face. One couldn’t tell exactly how old she was, but it seemed that she was a little bit younger than Roland.

The woman extended her right hand, and Roland took her hand in passing. The three of them turned around and left.

I chased them for a few steps, before the child wearing the cloak turned around. Her line of sight passed through me and landed on an area not too far away behind my back.

Softly, she said, “Grisia? I’ve remembered you, humph!”

So, actually… this was the first meeting between Pink and me?

However, I had completely no recollection of this matter for, at that time, I only managed to have the time to sneak a hasty peek at Roland’s back. That was because the whole square was paying attention to who the young Sun Knight was, and after my teacher had announced that he had selected me, he had brought me around to see the other young knight selection results. There was completely no time to even look at Roland for more than a peek.

Roland had actually already known Pink then… No, he was actually brought to the selections by Pink, right? But he had never mentioned this before. Didn’t he come from an orphanage?

Wait, he seemed to have said that his sword was a family heirloom? Where would a family heirloom come from for an orphan?

However, if Roland wanted to hide the fact that he wasn’t an orphan, then he shouldn’t have mentioned a family heirloom. Could it have been a slip of the tongue? Is it my brain that is confused or is Roland’s brain confused?

I really wanted to follow them and see where they went afterward. However, the surrounding scenery started to blur. It felt extremely familiar, a little like the scenery before one is about to faint… Being familiar with this kind of matter simply isn’t a good thing. In this year already, the number of times I have fainted is even more than my past twenty years combined!

Usually this process wouldn’t take too long. It wouldn’t take more than two seconds to lose consciousness after the surroundings begin to blur. However, I had already thought about so many things, yet I have yet to faint? What was more important was that the scenery was starting to sharpen again…

After my surroundings became clear, I instead discovered that I was not at the Holy Temple’s square anymore. However, this place was still within Leaf Bud City, and with just a look, I could tell that this street definitely wasn’t far from the Holy Temple.

Just as I was pondering over which street this was, a boy suddenly passed through my chest!

Right, I seem to be in spirit status right now with others being unable to see or touch me. However, even if that is the case, could you not pass through me randomly? It feels really strange… Wait, was he a golden-haired boy? Don’t tell me it’s me again?

Thinking till there, I hurriedly gave chase. However, just after I took two steps forward, the boy stopped. He turned around to yell into an alley, “Hey! What are you all doing?”

Although I was only looking at his side profile, that was me all right.

I looked into the alley that he was facing. A few boys were giggling as they surrounded something unknown. This scene was simply very unfamiliar. However, many things had happened over the years since I was young. Even my memory wouldn’t be able to remember every little segment of it. However, I should be able to remember if I watch a little longer.

That golden-haired boy… I guess I should call him Grisia now? He was shouting at a few boys who were bigger than him, “Don’t bully her! A few guys bullying a girl, how shameless!”

Those boys turned around and retorted, “It’s none of your business!”

At this point, I finally saw that they were actually surrounding a little girl. The girl looked extremely dirty, with her clothes torn and tattered and her hair in a dishevelled mess. She was kneeling on the floor, her eyes long since filled with tears. However, she was trying to force herself to be strong and hold her tears back. When she really couldn’t stop the tears from flowing, she quickly used her hand to wipe her face.

Looking at her attire, she should have been a beggar.

However, what was strange was that there was dark element faintly emitting from her body. Though normal people didn’t possess sensing ability, they would still dislike things with dark element in them by instinct. This was probably one of the reasons she was bullied.

“She is an unlucky girl!” Those boys threatened, “If you dare go near her, you will also become unlucky!”

“Nonsense!” Grisia wasn’t afraid in the least bit and even retorted, “There’s completely no such thing as an unlucky girl! It’s apparent that you guys are bullying her. A few guys bullying a girl, shame on you!”

Those boys’ faces became red, their shame seeming to turn into anger. The girl instead lifted her head up, and her face lit up in hope as she stared at Grisia.

The boys rushed toward Grisia, full of rage. The latter was not to be outdone. He quickly ran to one side, took a broom and wielded it as a sword. The pose seemed to have an impact, for even the boys slowed their footsteps a little. However, seeing that they had the advantage in numbers, they still charged on fearlessly.

Grisia wielded the sword… No, it was a broom, and knocked it into a boy’s arm. The other person yelled loudly in pain, and then using his backhand, he snatched the broom away with a single grab.

“Er…“ Grisia looked at his empty hands and then lifted his head to look at the tall boys in front of him who were angry and had grown a little too well. He gave a radiant smile, saying, “The God of Light tells us that, even toward our enemies, we should hold fast to a benevolent and affectionate heart … Ouch! That hurts!”

The boys gathered around, and without a second word, they launched into a flurry of punches and kicks.

“Don’t hit me anymore, it hurts!”

While he was getting beaten up, he muttered in fragmented pieces, “Sob, sob, sob! I’m going to tell my teacher… No wait, if I tell Teacher that I lost a fight, he will kill me! Sob, sob, sob, I got beaten up and I can’t even lodge a complaint, I’m so pitiful…”

So I had already started muttering like this from such an early age?

The girl seemed to be unable to look on any longer. She dashed in front of Grisia, using her two hands and body to protect him, and shouted, “Don’t hit him anymore! This has nothing to do with him, just hitting me is enough.”

Grisia, who had been screaming that it hurts as though his life depended on it, immediately grabbed the girl and pushed her behind his back to protect her. However, the girl wasn’t willing to let that happen and struggled to stay in front to protect him. Grisia was a little vexed as he yelled, “Don’t protect me! If my teacher were to find out that I was actually protected by a girl, he would certainly kill me! Don’t get me in trouble!”

Hearing that, the girl faltered, as though she had no idea what to do.

The boys helped them solve this problem by beating up the two of them fairly. Only after beating them up for a while, when a few adults stuck their heads out to scold them, did the boys run away laughing, not forgetting to turn their heads back to ridicule them.

“Who asked you to protect her!”

“I told you she is an unlucky girl! Look, you’re also unlucky now! Hahaha!”

The girl lowered her head with a sad expression. No matter how hard she tried to hold them in, her tears couldn’t help but flow down.

Grisia suddenly jumped up, shouting, “You guys beat me up, yet you say that this is the misfortune that she brought onto me. Are your brains rotting or something? No matter how you say it, it is a misfortune that you guys brought onto me! What does it have to do with her? You guys are the ones who are unlucky!”

Hearing that, the girl lifted her head to look at Grisia. Though there were still two streaks of tears running down her cheeks, her expression was no longer sad.

Grisia lowered his head, just in time to lock eyes with the girl. He gave a smile but also agitated the bruise on his cheek. The smile immediately turned into a pained smile, and the expression of him crying and smiling at the same time was so comical that even the girl couldn’t help but laugh.

Grisia cursed under his breath, “It hurts like mad! They actually hit me so hard… They better watch out! In the future, you better not get caught and thrown into the Judge’s Complex. If you get dragged in, I’ll make you guys pay for this!”

After he finished cursing them through his mutters, he lowered his head again to tell the girl, “Don’t be scared! In a moment, it won’t hurt anymore!”

The girl gave a faint smile, saying, “Will the pain fly away?” Though she said this, her expression was one of obvious disbelief.

“That’s right! It’ll probably fly to the God of Light’s place.” Grisia finished his words casually and then muttered a short incantation. Following that, both his hands emitted a warm, honey-colored glow that covered the two of them. Laughing, he said, “Look, it doesn’t hurt anymore, right?”

The girl was stunned for a moment and then turned her head to look over her own body. The original wounds were actually all gone. She showed an astonished expression and then looked at Grisia blankly.

Laughing, Grisia said, “I am called Grisia, and I am the future Sun Knight! How about you?”

“S-Sun Knight?” The girl hesitated for a while before she shyly replied, “Everyone calls me Unlucky.”

Grisia was stunned for a moment. Then, he frowned as he commented, “That’s not a name! Don’t you have another name?”

The girl shook her head.

“Then let me give you a name!” As though it was a matter of fact, Grisia continued, “Hm… Then I’ll call you Charlotte! How about that? The meaning of Charlotte is a healthy girl, and because you look very healthy and energetic, can I call you Charlotte?”

The girl replied back in a daze, “Charlotte?”

“What, you don’t like it?”

The girl… I should call her Charlotte now. She nodded her head in a hurry, saying, “I-I like it!”

“Then good.” Grisia nodded his head, and following that, he acted like a spoilt child as he said, “Then Charlotte, would you accompany me to buy desserts? One has to queue for a really long time at that store! Queuing by myself is boring, so accompany me there! Let’s go!”

After saying that, without caring about whether she consented, he extended a hand to hold hers. Charlotte stretched her hand out hesitantly. However, once she lowered her head to see her own filthy hand and the other person’s hand as white as snow, she immediately pulled her hand back. However, Grisia’s movements were even faster, and after grabbing her hand, he dragged her to the shop.

“Let’s go! If we arrive too late, everything will be sold out! That shop’s desserts are really super delicious!”

I followed behind them, watching them chat, giggle and line up. In the end, when they had finally reached the front of the line with much difficulty, they only had a few copper ducats on hand due to Grisia forgetting to bring his wallet. It was just enough to buy a single blueberry lollipop; thus, the two of them shared it together…

In the end, the two people sat at the edge of the fountain in the center of the plaza. Facing the sunset and sharing one blueberry lollipop, the two of them looked rather picturesque and poetic. However, the people involved were two little mischievous children licking a blueberry lollipop, so rather than unpractical stuff like picturesque and poetic charm, they would probably prefer a slice of blueberry cake.

Grisia suddenly exclaimed, “Oh, oh no, it’s really late. I have made plans with my teacher to go look for Big Sister… Never mind, it should be fine. I should still be able to make it in time if I go now, since Teacher always arrives rather late.”

Wrong, my teacher just happened to not to be late that time, resulting in me getting a beating. Moreover, because I had executed two healing spells before that, I didn’t have enough holy light to heal myself completely, causing me to feel so much pain on the way there.

I remember now. I remember everything now.

Meeting Charlotte, playing with her the entire afternoon, leaving because I had to go look for Big Sister and also, our promise…

Grisia stood up and jumped off the step, shouting to the girl, “Charlotte, tomorrow evening I’ll come and look for you to play, okay? Let’s just meet at this fountain!”

Charlotte nodded her head, giving a smile as she replied, “Okay.” After finishing her words, she realized that she was still holding half of a blueberry lollipop in her hand and handed it over in a hurry, saying, “Your lollipop.”

“I’ll give it to you! I couldn’t possibly bring a lollipop to go find my teacher. He would kill me!”

Charlotte’s face was full of fear as she replied, “Your teacher is so scary. No matter what you do, he is going to kill you.”

“Haha, my teacher is very scary, that’s right…” Grisia gave a hollow laugh and then continued, “Then I’ll be going off first! See you tomorrow evening. If I am late or I don’t come, it could be because my teacher suddenly gave me an assignment. If that is so, then we’ll meet the evening on the day after… In conclusion, you have to wait for me. You must wait for me!”

“Okay, I will wait for you. I will come here every evening to wait for you,” Charlotte agreed and nodded her head. Only then was Grisia willing to depart.

Until she couldn’t see the boy’s shadow anymore, Charlotte kept on murmuring, “I’ll definitely wait for you, Grisia, Sun Knight.”

Charlotte…

It was me who had given her a name. It was me who had asked her to wait for me. In the end, it was also me who killed her.

However, just by spending half a day with her, I had actually affected her entire life. Is there anyone who is more obstinate than she is?

She licked the blueberry lollipop, her eyes still looking in the direction in which I had gone. Even though I was actually long gone from that place and was completely out of sight, she still kept on looking in that direction.

I, too, kept on looking at her. That was because from now onward, I would never see her again, for she hadn’t even left behind a corpse!

However, at this moment, the scenery started to blur again, and Charlotte’s body also began to fade. I couldn’t help but look at the sky and beg, “Please, Scarlet, let me look just a little longer. Just a little longer would be fine, I beg of you!”

I don’t know whether she couldn’t hear me begging her, or whether she wasn’t willing to let me look on any longer. Charlotte still disappeared, and no longer… would I be able to see her again…

Because I killed her.

The surrounding scenery changed again. It didn’t look like this place was Leaf Bud City anymore but a cavern. What time and place will it be this time?

“Neo, why did you knock Grisia unconscious?”

I was stunned. Turning around, I saw that the person who had spoken was actually Aldrizzt. My teacher, Neo, was standing at his side, and I, at that time, was lying on the ground unconscious… This was the time when we had entered the cavern to take Eternal Tranquility!

While tossing Eternal Tranquility, my teacher lowered his head to look at the unconscious me, saying, “If I didn’t knock him unconscious, later on he would be all long-winded again! If you knock him out, he wouldn’t be so long-winded anymore.”

Teacher! So you had actually knocked me out, and it wasn’t that I had used too much holy light and fainted? Y-You… Though I know that it was something that had already happened in the past, I still couldn’t help but start to feel anxious. That’s because in a while, Scarlet is going to come and chop off Teacher’s arm!

If I was still awake, perhaps I could have helped my teacher. Perhaps he wouldn’t have lost his right arm.

Aldrizzt sighed as he commented, “Since you knocked him unconscious, won’t you have to wait for him to wake up?”

My teacher seemed not to care in the least bit as he said, “He won’t be unconsciousness for long. You, hurry and take the chance now to tie the rope onto Eternal Tranquility and then tie it around his neck.” After saying that, he shoved the gemstone into the other party’s hands just like that.

Aldrizzt rolled his eyes at him, saying, “Don’t tell me tying a rope around gemstones is a mage’s job?”

“You haven’t done much along the way here. Do you have to nag so much over doing such a small thing?”

Hearing that, the dark elf grumbled, “It wasn’t me who wanted to get the gemstone…” while he started to do the chore. Not too long after, he held the gemstone with the rope tied around it and squatted to the side of my unconscious body. Just when he was about to tie on the necklace…

“Aldrizzt!” My teacher roared.

“Huh?” Aldrizzt turned around to look at my teacher in puzzlement.

My teacher pushed aside Aldrizzt with one hand, but he himself had not had enough time to dodge the blow. His right arm was sliced off by a dark blade. The entire arm flew away until it hit the wall and fell down again.

Large amounts of blood spurted from my teacher’s cut-off limb.

“It just missed by a little bit!”

That “me” spoke as such and then slowly climbed up. On my face was a smile filled with malicious intent. I even released a boom of dark elemental magic in passing, the explosion thoroughly blasting my teacher’s cut-off right arm into smithereens.

It wasn’t until now did I truly understand what had happened… Teacher’s right arm was chopped off by me?

“No!” I couldn’t help but give a loud scream, not daring to believe it at all. This isn’t real; it must be Scarlet trying to confuse me!

“Nonono- It wasn’t me! It’s not!”

However, there was no one who could hear my screams. My teacher didn’t even give another look at his right arm that had been blasted into smithereens. Instead, he stared at the “me” who had a malicious smile, saying, “Grisia, what are you doing?”

“What am I doing?” That “me” gave a laugh, and then his face twisted and he growled, “Who asked you to knock me unconscious! It’s always been like this. Whatever you wish to do, you’ll do so recklessly. You want me to purify the area, I have to purify the area. You want me to faint, I have to faint. What do you think I am? Your toy? I’ve wanted to give you a lesson for a very long time!”

“Grisia!” Aldrizzt angrily said, “It was for your sake that Neo came to purify this cavern. How could you say something like that! This is simply just too…”

Clank!

That “me” lay down once more, the culprit being the Divine Sun Sword.

Aldrizzt froze in shock, and my teacher instead walked to the front of that “me,” and then gave a cold snort before he growled, “I, your teacher, can still slaughter you without my right hand! You better watch out! This time, I used the sword hilt to hit you. Next time, it would be the sharp tip of the sword!”

When Aldrizzt saw that my teacher’s entire right side of his body had been dyed red by blood, he panicked and shrieked, “Neo! Your arm…”

Instead, my teacher interrupted him, “Aldrizzt, pass me pen paper.”

“Pen paper?” Aldrizzt’s eyes turned wide as he exclaimed, “Are you asking for bandages? You have to hurry and treat your injury!”

My teacher roared at him in rage, “I want ‘Pen and Paper’!”

Aldrizzt was stunned for a moment, and then he hurriedly dug out a pen and paper from their luggage. After receiving the items, my teacher actually started to write a letter.

Seeing the situation, Aldrizzt felt helpless and anxious. He quickly tried to find bandages to help him bandage up the wound, but the blood soaked through the bandages in a short period of time. In the end, he could only take off his own cloak and use it to help my teacher tie the entire wound.

After writing the letter, my teacher hurriedly shoved the letter onto that “me.” Though he was pretending that nothing was wrong, his forehead had long since broken out into a cold sweat.

Finally, Aldrizzt couldn’t help but growl, “Neo, stop pushing yourself! Do you really want to die? Do you know that the amount of blood you have lost is already enough to cause death?”

“It’s all settled.” My teacher said urgently, “Now throw Grisia outside, then we will leave.”

“Let’s ignore him. He won’t die here, but you’re about to die!”

“No way! If he sees the state of this place, he would deduce the truth. My student is not someone so easily dealt with!”

“You don’t intend to tell him?” Aldrizzt asked, shock written on his face.

“Tell him? Don’t joke around!” My teacher growled, “Usually he is already so long-winded with his never ending words, and you still want me to go and tell him that my arm was cut off by him? He would never forgive himself his entire life! Now, do you intend to watch me bleed to death, or are you going to help me move him outside?”

Aldrizzt could only agree with him, so he answered, “Okay! Don’t be so agitated. Go drink a few bottles of potions first. I’ll move him outside. You wait for me here, and by all means, don’t move randomly!”

“Yes, yes. After leaving the long-winded student, there came along another long-winded companion…”

“Shut up! Go get some rest!”

Leaving without even saying goodbye, throwing the unconscious me into the forest, the illegible handwriting, and being reluctant at the beginning to tell me who had chopped off his arm… It all fits together; it really was me!

It is me who chopped off Teacher’s arm!

At that time, I actually really believed my teacher’s words and thought that Scarlet did it. There were obviously so many doubtful points; I just didn’t dare think about them… Hahaha!

How laughable, though I have been saying with all my might that I want to protect my companions, in the end, the one who broke the promise and even killed Charlotte was me. The person who chopped off Teacher’s arm was also me. For the sake of stopping me, Pink killed Leaf. For the sake of protecting my secret, Judgment was killed… It’s all my fault!

“I did it. It was me. So it was me. Everything was me!”

    Why did Grisia suddenly flip out after Neo knocked him unconscious?

    • Sandal Hat

      @Darkling
      He had used up all his light element purifying the area so he was at the mercy of his dark element.

    • 15B

      @Sandal Hat
      Oh! That makes sense now!

      Earlier, when he ran out of the holy element from Resurrections, he always ended up sleeping for several days which gave him enough time to recover his holy element. But this time, he was knocked out on purpose and woke up again very quickly and still with low holy element.

    • @15B
      Maybe this isn’t the first time Grisia’s darker side appeared and that’s why Neo knocked him out the first time, in an attempt to prevent this.

    omg o.O that explains why sun was acting crazy and wanted to kill himself ! But, wait .. Pink killed Leaf ? Wasn’t that Silent Eagle ? Did i miss something ?

    • Cyead

      @Arya
      Awaitsun killed Leaf on Pink’s orders, remember that they told Sun that there was a really strong priest with Awaitsun, afterwards Sun saw that the priest was in fact a lynch aka Pink which was when he destroyed her body

    • @Cyead
      Now that I think about it (and now that I’m highly suspicious of everything Pink’s ever done…), I bet the whole reason Pink even helped Silent Eagle in the first place is so that he would have a wife and kids that Roland could later take hostage as the Demon King. TT_TT Damn, Pink really was playing the long game the entire time. I’m torn between hatred and grudging respect. XP

    YAY for new chapter. Thank you!
    So this explains what was going on in his head while the holy knights resurrected and chased him. He will be alright when he wakes up, then, I hope?

  4. snuffie

    Soo.. we still don’t know what happened after the Resurrection…

    I don’t get what happened in the cavern. Why didn’t Sun remember what he did after he was knocked unconscious and why did he act like that in the first place? Split personality? Why did Neo know that he’ll forget what happened? What the heck exactly is Eternal Tranquility supposed to protect Sun from? That still hasn’t been explicitly stated till now. Who was that woman who was with Roland and Pink? Scarlet? That’s highly unlikely. Where are Sun’s ‘mother’ and ‘sister’ now? Was Scarlet the little/older sister or the mother figure? Whatwhatwhat, will rereading the whole series help? …..Heeeeeeeeelp!!

    • snuffie

      @snuffie
      correction… I just remembered that we were already told about after the resurrection in the prologue..

      What was told in this chapter doesn’t seem to ve enough for Sun to refuse to keep living though.. There should be more to chopping iff Neo’s arm. Killing Charlotte is inevitable anyway, seeing as how she annihilated everyone in a whole street.

      @snuffie
      Actually I think that yeah, in a way the Demon King is a split personality part – or more like, the Fragment having its own personality, in a way? Something like that. I guess Neo just counted on that, so that was a lucky guess then; that Grisia hadn’t actually woken up, just the Demon Kind part of him. Pretty reckless of him though…
      Eternal Tranquility has the ability to purify the area surrounding it by pretty much just being there, so obviously it was supposed to protect him from the dark element he naturally attracts… and prevent situations such as the one that just happened there. As for the woman with Pink, that’s most likely her cleaning corpse of the time. With the body of a little girl, to blend in with people you’ll need an “adult”! Just how she brings her cleaning corpse to buy corpses from the execution grounds, and how Scarlet hat Big Sister. Sun’s “mother” was Big Sister who Neo hacked to pieces, his “sister” was Scarlet. Though actually it was more like the other way around… as his Lich Scarlet acted as his “mother” but from the view of random bystanders she’d be the “sister”.

      …And I’d say it totally explains Grisia’s behavior. Mind you, he was pretty stressed out and desperate over the entire Demon King thing before already, so he’s likely short on nerves anyway. Then his year-long acquaintance and his childhood friend, one of the brothers he trusted with his live, lured him into a trap and killed him, while at the same time he realized he did not pay enough attention to Roland’s feelings and with his kind of selfless love for his brothers probably already felt he deserved to be attacked by him.
      He already blamed himself for Leaf’s death. To him, it was all his fault. Because the enemy’s actual target was him and he had not been around when Elmairy was killed. And then there was Lesus – who got himself killed by Scarlet, his opponent, and moreover while trying to handle the issue without Grisia knowing to protect him when Grisia is convinced that it’s all his problem and that he’s dragging everyone into it. Endangering them. Being at fault if they died. And finally Neo… Him losing his dominant arm – the most important to a swordsman like him – to Scarlet because he dragged him into it was already bad enough. But knowing he actually did it himself… Like Neo said, how could he ever forgive himself? His knight brothers are the world to Grisia and now he’s realizing that the one and only greatest menace to them, the one who causes them to suffer and even die, is himself. Of course he’d be totally out of his mind and believe he deserved to die and they were better off without him around!

      (wow, this got long. I’m sorry I’m too passionate about all these babies skfhbsdkjfhs)

      Your passion reached me :P

      Earlier I was thinking that since he already knew that Leaf and Judgement’s deaths were more or less because of him, and since he was able to shoulder the guilt all this time, another bomb like ‘I chopped off my teacher’s arm!’ or ‘I blasted my potential love interest to smithereens!’ wouldn’t do more than depress him, you know, even more. But I guess I overestimated Sun mental strength a tad bit too much (yea, yea, I’m an overdemanding cold bastard). Having all of it laid bare before him and facing all of them at once really pulled the plug out for him this time.

      That said… ugh, Sun! That doesn’t mean you deserve to die!! Don’t go all suicidal on us dammit *punches pillow kicks bed*

    • 15B

      @snuffie
      The clearest place that Eternal Tranquility’s purpose (as intended by Neo, because he apparently wasn’t satisfied with its original purpose of sealing a land of darkness) is stated is probably when Sun is captured by Stephen/Phen and Charlotte. The gem doesn’t allow him to absorb the dark element more than a normal person would be able to. (And normal people can’t absorb an entire land of darkness’s element without exploding.) That’s why Sun had to take off Eternal Tranquility and gave it to Judgment when he wanted to fight Charlotte using the dark element.

      I forgot where exactly it’s mentioned, but Neo explained that Sun’s “mother” and “sister” are Scarlet and a larger female corpse. The “sister” is Scarlet and the “mother” is another corpse under Scarlet’s control. I forgot if Scarlet was supposed to be an older or younger sister…

      ? And to the memory loss of the cave incident… Maybe his holy element wiped out the memory or sealed it away. His personality changes whenever he absorbs a lot of dark element, as seen in the cave of the dragon in the Valley of Trizer, after defeating Charlotte and refusing to take the Divine Sun Sword back, and here with Neo. After recovering his holy light (usually from the Divine Sun Sword being forced on him), he acts a lot differently, going back to caring about his holy knights rather than just himself.

    • snuffie

      @15B
      Thanks! Those explanations lie somewhere in the murky depths of my fuzzy memory, so it’s really enlightening to see them all listed like this.

      What still confuses me is that for quite some time now Neo and the TwHKnights, esp Judge, already knew that Sun has a different personality when he’s completely possessed by dark element, even though the only experience they had was that one time when Sun lost his memories. But just from that they’re already holding on to the idea ‘Sun with dark element=Sun with dark personality’.

    • Darkgrirmora97

      @snuffie
      Yeah that still confuses me too I mean how exactly did they know. I just really really pray to the God of light it doesn’t have anything to do with some other incident that sun does not remember from when he was little and turned into dark Grisia and hurt people >.< like if scarlet came to find him and he transformed into dark Grisia or something! Ah no please Ohmygod do not let this happen cause Sun does not need any more reason to blame himself for something!!!!!!!!
      But this is one of the few things that would make sense…. since if Neo found out like this then that would probably be another part of the secret that he told Judgement right before he became the Judgement Knight… and obviously Judgement can share secrets with the other Twelve Holy Knights that Sun does not know about… like how a certain Metal Knight loves a good beating……

      But nope on second thought this better not be the case cause if Judgement was killed over this secret….. then there's the possibility that Scarlet did not kill him and in fact it was another cover up because he was killed by…….. NOPE NOT GOING THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! If this does happen though Grisia would probably never forgive himself and my tears would also probably never stop either!

    • @Darkgrirmora97
      I would say that even though the Twelve Holy Knights only experienced Sun’s dark personality when he lost his memory, that one time was more than enough for them to make the connection. Sun was openly sadistic toward Ice when he didn’t remember who Ice was, but he seemed to go even beyond that after he absorbed all the dark element, leaving Ice and Blaze to die when he could’ve easily saved them without causing himself any trouble.

  5. Minibu

    shock!!!! O_O

    what?! Sun!!! don’t blame yourself!!!!

    Though….it is so sad TT^TT

    I can’t help feeling sad for Charlotte

  6. Ageha

    That totally unexpected and that why it’s so much better Than the guess i had made!!! Thank was the translation, i’m always waiting for them.

  7. Gimei

    Grisia actually gave someone a decent name…
    Thanks alot for the chapter. :D

  8. Setsuyume

    @Arya Silent Eagle killed Leaf on Pink’s orders.

    Oh my gods…so, so sad…not for Grisia nor Neo, but for Scarlet. She got mistreated, abandoned, and was killed by her only ray of hope in all this… thank you so much for this chapter, Prince Revolution!

    • CKuran

      @Setsuyume
      At the end, Scarlet was mistreated the most in my opinion…and also charlotte because she waited for him for so long and when they finally meet he has no memorization at all of her….i don’t know bout you but i would be pretty pissed…i will admit the methods she used was a bit extreme but in her defense it was all for love(the most powerful thing on Earth…been watching too much princess tales) and this poor dear scarlet and the sacrifices she made for Grisha and he treats her like crap and even after all the things hes put her through she still cares for him….shes basicly his mother! And i’m mad at Neo for not telling Grisha what actually happen in the cave then and there instead of him having to find out from Scarlet, the last person, in my opinion who should have broke the news to him, at least it would have given Grisha time to cope with this new realization and he probably wouldn’t have flipped out at such a crucial period of the story!…anyways I am still in suspense as too what will happen next so PLEASE UPDATE!!!!QUICKLY!!!!, and thanks for this new chapter and will i have to wait another 3 weeks for the new one O.o! …. Keep up the good work!

    • Setsuyume

      @CKuran

      Hahahaha… this is embarassing… I was actually refering to Charlotte lol but sure, all that applies to Scarlet as well, I just had a lapse of names lol

      P.S. Yes, Neo is a jerk. I WAS happy finding out Grisia had cut off his arm!

    • Sense

      @Setsuyume
      ……. You DO remember thats one of the reasons Grisia tried to kill himself, right?
      Cutting off his arm, murdering Charlotte, Pink ordering Leaf’s death, Judgement getting himself killed to keep Grisia’s secret…. Are you seriously saying you are happy? Think about what happened! Yes, Neo isn’t the best teacher around, or anywhere for that matter, but no one deserves to be forced into that type of situatuion. He went against liches BECAUSE of Grisia. He willingly gets himself in danger for him.

    • Setsuyume

      @Sense

      Yes, I DO remember.^^ So, let me make it clear to you and all: despite all his good points (caring in extreme for his Brothers and even that teacher, plus being a master strategist…what, just 2? lol), I just CAN’T bring myself to like Grisia! Why? Because the rest of his character is no different from Neo’s!

      Neo is a stupid bully who does whatever he wants by force, and kept mistreating the little kid Grisia. Grisia could have been a genius Mage, or even Pope, and was expecting Roland to be Sun Knight. And what happened? Neo chose him for a stupid reason, despite he had no talent at all as a Knight! Not only that, after he found out about Grisia’s destiny as Demon King, Neo still denied him that! Instead, he submitted a child to a life of abuse and intimidation! So, Neo is fighting and getting hurt for Grisia? He is sacrificing himself for Grisia? That doesnt change what he did! In fact, thats not even a proper compensation! Let him lose arms, legs, that look he values so much, and whatever else, I say!

      And then we have Grisia…it pains to think he could have been such a better person, had he not met Neo… sure, he worries for his fellow knights. But at the same time he bullies, bothers and manipulates half of them, right? Putting half of the church’s paperwork on Storm’s Shoulders? Getting in the way of Earth with women, because Earth doesn’t submit to his unfitting requests, and Sun himself cant get a girl? (“women think I am preaching, because I talk about the God of Light every 3 sentences”? How about NOT mentioning the God of Light? How about talking normally? How does he think Neo got the princess and who knows how many more women?! He is too stupid to get a girl, and dislikes Earth out of jealousy…man, it was just SO GOOD when Earth got in Sun’s way with that archer woman!), putting ALL of his jobs on the rest of his facction and doing nothing at all (no wonder his real friends are in the other faccion)? Mistreating his entire platoon, making them jump from a cliff and such?

      Of course, there might have been Neo’s influence on him. On the other hand, that should have taught Sun how NOT to be like his teacher! How to be nice to other people, not exploiting them! In short, Sun, are you sad right now? Are you in dispair? Because you hurt your teacher? Because people die and such for keeping things from you? Because you “care” for these people? Oh, SHUT UP.

      P.S. Plz dont take me wrong, I love every chapter of this masterpiece. The way Grisia solves the problems, the sadness over Charlotte, I cant say anything about that. However, Neo and Grisia themselves, as people…disgusting. Just. Plain. Disgusting.

      P.P.S. Yes, I am vengeful, in case it’s not clear. Good to vent all my hate here. Just saying. Yeah.

    • Jynx3d

      @Setsuyume
      Sure, Charlotte might have been mistreated, but from what I see, it wasn’t on purpose. Of course Grisa would still feel guilt over this, but Charlotte banking everything on Grsia, who she met once is also extreme. I understand that she was young and saw Grisia as a savior since he was the only one that excepted her but it’s still ridiculous to me the amount of expectatations she had for him. Also, he even told her he was the future Sun Knight, so she could have sought him out sooner.
      Scarlet is still iffy for me. She may be misunderstood on the whole Neo thing, but there was never any indication that she didn’t kill Judgement. I never hated her and just saw her as this entity that had all the answers…and she does, but I’m not inclined to start pitying her. She is still part of the reason why Grisia harmed his companions and as a result, his guilt. So she’s not purely blame free, just like how I like Pink, but I can’t forgive her for harming Sun just because of Roland. I commend Scarlet for the care she shows for Grisia, but can’t completely forgive her actions, unless it’s revealed she didn’t kill Judgement.
      Neo. You my not like him, or what he did, but it was all for Grisia. Sure, it didn’t have to be Scarlet that he blamed, but at the time, he knew Scarlet wanted to make Grisia the Demon King so blaming him served to prevent that. Plus scarlet seemed like the most plausible answer as there was already doubt in Grisia’s mind against her character, and how was he supposed to know Scarlet would tell Grisia the truth? Anyway you saw how Sun reacted, it may not have been Neo’s best decision, but he was accurate in the fact that he knew Frisia would react this way, and he was only trying to prevent that.
      Sorry for the lengthy reply…this series has just got me so riled up!

    • CKuran

      @Setsuyume
      OMG, the way you just explained Grisha does make him sound like a terrible person (if this was really life I would not like him in the slightest due to the fact he is too smart and deceitful and sneaky for my liking. If I’m gonna hang out with someone I will at least be either smarter, sneakier, or strategist then them. I’ve always have to be a two-steps ahead just in case) but if you take out all of those bad traits of Grisha you have a caring, hilarious, interesting (meaning you will never get bored and plus he might be demon king which in my opinion is super hot cuz I love bad boys….at a certain extent), handsome, smart, and strategical guy. And in my opinion, is someone I can hang out with. Yes, I do agree about Neo though….annoying guy. If it wasn’t for the fact of he is very useful in a battle, he would be the first person on my list to die!….abusive jerk… and not to be matter-of-fact, the reason Grisha speaks in that Sun God tone is due to the fact he has to set a specific image and if he showed his true colors, the Church of the God of Light will have less followers by the minute ,due to the lack of believers, so I can understand why he has no girlfriend ( shoot, i wouldn’t want to date a guy who keeps preaching to me about some God with MPD) And another thing I have always been dying to talk about is these dang Gods of theirs….their crap! I mean if they really did “care” for their people then wouldn’t the Gods intervene at such a crucial time i mean for the example the God of Light. I see no reasons why sun had to make a sacrifice of his own body every time he did the resurrection thing! I mean he is YOUR FREAKING REPRESENTATIVE for you religion….wouldn’t that just make people stop following you ( i wouldn’t follow a God who makes me do some stupid sacrifice every single time i’m trying to bring back one of his important people) Ugghhh, that just urks me….I have more to say but its diner time!

    • @CKuran
      I’m kind of surprised Scarlet told Grisia at all about Neo. It made Grisia suicidal right after he was resurrected and Scarlet said her only concern was Grisia…

    • CKuran

      @黒
      yeah i agree too….kind of did the opposite right but i still don’t think the “struggle” he went to is enough of to attempt suicide…..BC, and i bet you he never thought about the feelings of the people he would be leaving too!!! There you go again Grisha, putting yourself before others….maybe its just me but I really hate suicide, what a boring way to leave this world!

  9. linjhai

    Oh, so that’s why he was repeating “that was me” so much when he has been resurrected.
    Gosh, Sun don’t be too hard on yourself! Now I feel bad for Neo and charlotte…
    Thanks for the chapter!

  10. quanta

    Oh man….. I feel really bad for Grisia….. and Scarlet!!! Oh I feel sooooooo bad for judging her wrongly and… awwww I want Scarlet back and I want Sun to get better and AWWWWWWWWW
    This is really sad now…. *cries*
    Anyways, thanks for the chapter and I really cannot wait for the next one!!!

  11. Nocta

    Oh God, I was expecting so many answer of this chapter and in the end, I only got much more questions!
    I wanted to know what happened to Grisia’s Sister and Big Sister. (with all these flashback, I was really expecting to know the truth)
    I wanted to know what happened the next time he open is eyes after being knock down by Lesus. (Wait! If his second personality awakens when he looses consiousness, isn’t something bad about to happen? Maybe not since Roland killed him and took his demon candidat part)
    I wanted to know if Roland was manipulated by Pink. (it seems he had a problem with his personality from the start, like an empty puppet controled by Pink?)
    In the end, I have to wait for at least another three weeks for the next part.
    Well, anyway, Thanks for your translation PR! You’re the best!

    • Adrimiz7

      @Nocta
      Neo mentions that he destroyed their bodies not long after Sun’s memory loss. Where they were and what they were doing before then, no idea

    • @Nocta
      For Roland, I figured it was just his dark personality coming out like how Sun’s came out in the past. Though this could’ve been manipulated by Pink! Grisia said his eyes turned back into flames and Roland’s human appearance had always been controlled by the ring Pink gave him. Maybe the ring was the key to unsealing his dark personality and Pink activated it?

  12. Nali

    I was wondering why he flipped out and tried to kill himself…. at least the very last paragraph explains it. I’m guessing when he depleted all his holy element in the cave, there was nothing left to hold back the dark element, especially since Neo knocked him unconscious (for some reason…).

    I still get the feeling Scarlet is messing with his head though.

    Poor Charlotte… :'(

  13. 15B

    *happiness* Grisia will be O.K.!~ He wasn’t seeing things that aren’t real, so his mind is O.K.!~ (Unless the grief drives him mad and he still can’t communicate with the outside world to heal himself…) But he was all intact throughout this chapter so I believe our Invincible Cockroach will pull through again! Good luck, Grisia! It’s not your fault. You’ve always done the best you can to prevent anyone from being hurt in your schemes, and that’s as much as we expect or need. Don’t let the guilt settle on you when it shouldn’t and slow you down. There are still people who you need to lead forward!

  14. chay

    oooohhhh…the explanatory chapter…
    well that answered so many questions…
    well i feel sorry for charlotte, for scarlet, for sun and for neo…but most of all for charlotte… that single half a day changed her entirelife…i believe she waited for sun to come every evening until she was taken by stephen… of course for all that has happened sun would blame himself to death… i wonder what will he do when he wakes up… most likely neo would have already comeback since it is said that his travel would likely take a month…
    oh adair, adair… what would you do if you saw sun like that
    (TT^TT)
    by the way i just thought about it…how come grisia was able to gather the dark element when he was revived…the eternal tranquility was supposed to be worn by sun that time right???
    oooohhh and thanks PR!

    • Netto

      @chay
      Why hello jelly Golden god. We meet again. :)

      Anyways, such a dark chapter. Grisia just really takes things to heart and personalizes everything. Stop blaming yourself and move forward. :D

    • @chay
      I was wondering about Eternal Tranquility too. I knew he could still gather the dark element, but I thought it stopped him from absorbing it. Maybe it just stops him from absorbing it unconsciously and makes it harder to do. He did lose all the dark element when Lesus knocked him out. But I also thought that the reason he absorbed dark element in the first place was due to the fragment of the Demon King.

      And Neo… I wonder if something happened to him. The king said he sent someone to tell Neo as soon as Grisia went missing, but the messenger couldn’t find him. Hope he comes back soon!

  15. Jasae Bushae

    Ah, what a light hearted chapter…Sun was turned into a woman and is now being chased around by a resurrected Charolette who wants to marry him anyway, while Roland tosses away his demon king title for the sake of trying to marry the pretty blonde…

    Yup, thats totally what I just read, no depressing soul crushing sadness here~ No siree~

    • Amiric

      @Jasae Bushae
      That would be an interesting premise to write for a fanfic, though apparently I just don’t read the same thing like you. Care to tell what Judgment would do seeing Sun was snatched away from him?

    • Jasae Bushae

      @Amiric
      Well Sun is deespratly trying to order the other knights to save him from the two, and while their hastening to obey (while secretly wanting Sun for themselves) , Grisia tries to take the opportunity to try teasing Judgment and cozying up to him. This backfires on Judgment who unable to hide his feelings now that Sun is a cute girl, invokes the fourth shared rule and orders the other knights to help him catch Grisia and force him to become Judgments bride.

      In an effort to get away from all three sides, he turns to Adair for help, and all smiles, the vicee captain wisks Grisia away in secret to his home town, where he plans to marry the transformed sun knight.
      Between Judgments truth gathering abilities though, and Charolette & Rolands element sensing abilities, the three strongest canidates converge on Sun while the other ten knights are secretly plotting to steal Sun out from under everyones nose.

  16. :[

    TT^TT During the time that I was reading about the part with charlotte, I kept thinking about how Grisia ended up killing her…. Ugh. So sad…

    Thanks for the awesome chapter!
    Please let the next chapter come early next month!:D

  17. Fhays

    Wow I was going to write a way too long passionate comment but then I wrote a way too long passionate reply to a comment instead-
    Anyway AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH okay I did not expect /that/. I had always been kinda suspicious of the story of how Neo lost his arm, but… I don’t know what exactly I expected, but Grisia going Demon King Candidate and chopping it right off while trying to kill Aldrizzt certainly wasn’t it. But this makes much more sense than trying to figure out exactly what Roland-related thing might have caused Grisia to snap THAT badly… :’D
    Also aaaaa ;A; Charlotteeeee~~ I wonder how Stephen found her and convinced her to leave Leaf Bud City for the Cathedral of the Shadow God… and when. How long exactly did she wait for Grisia for? (And how come he never ran into her on coincidence while heading out to buy cake because Lesus didn’t have time to do it for him-)

    • Adrimiz7

      @Fhays
      Yeah, or she could have gone to the temple to look for him. Then again, she might have felt too dirty to enter the temple.

  18. Andi

    OOH, this explains a lot! Thanks PR! I still wonder how Sun caused Lesus’s death… Did Lesus attack scarlet or something so that she couldn’t tell Sun that he is a demon king candidate? And then Scarlet wounded him greatly while defending herself and he died from bleeding to death as a result? At least Dark Sun didn’t kill Lesus… ._. Then he really wouldn’t be able to forgive himself. Well, actually, I guess a lot of “Sun will never forgive himself if he knew” stuff already happened >...> Wait, if Sun’s madness is actually from realizing all of those “Grisia would never forgive himself” moments.. then there really were no side effects? Or would it be a temporary side effect that he is lost in his own thoughts and not cognisant? So many answers, and so many more questions @.@

  19. dollyfishe

    *sigh* another dark chapter. yu wo really is …. unpredictable !!! *sigh*
    hope the laugh return on the next chapter (though it seems unlikely to happen)
    thanx for the translation then :)

  20. CrimsonLady218

    Thank you for the translation! <3

    I'm still wondering about how Grisia's finshing death hit? Didn't say in the last chapter that he was stabbed again before he could bleed out? Did Roland stab him again before he bled out? Why would he do that? If really didn't care wouldn't he just left Grisia to bleed out? r

    Poor Grisia, getting killed off then finding out the truth. Suicide is for pansies, dumb a**!

    • EliSan

      @Anon
      I don’t think so. Pink wonted to tern him into a Death Knight. That is the reason why she didn’t want any more wounds on his body since it will be more troublesome to successfully tern him into one. I think that Roland indeed deep down considers him his friend and that is the reason why he finished him of and brought his corpse to the Holy Knights. He didn’t want Sun to die. He new that the Knights would resurrect him. By doing so he actually went against Pink!!!

    • @EliSan
      Actually, didn’t Stephen say that once the Demon King is chosen, all the liches must listen to him? So after Roland got all three pieces of the vessel, wouldn’t that mean that he’s the boss now? Pink can’t tell him what to do anymore, cuz she obeys him!

    • EliSan

      @月
      Even if it is so, what’s the purpose? Why would he give Grisias body to the Holy Knights? If it was me, I wouldn’t have done so (if I were a Demon King that is) + since Grisia is still alive, he might note have become the Demon King yet… Maybe

  21. immasweetslovinggirl

    *cries* COD PR ALL THESE CLIFF HANGERS!

    Oh well at least it’s some explanation for why he went crazy after being revived but it mean…come on…your killing us

    Thank goodness to PR i’d cry if i had to manga to update to find out this stuff in the first place. thank you loads

  22. EliSan

    After reading this chapter i started to wonder were did the three Demon King Candidates come from? Sun is an orphan, Roland didn’t seem to have biological parents too. Charlotte is all by herself as well. Did they just appear from thin air or is that they uncontionsly killed there parents when then were born?
    Plus, Roland mentioned before that his sword is his heirloom. Maybe it is not entirely a lie since all three of them could be considered “demon kings hairs” and this kind of sword most likely belonged to the previous Demon King (Pink did mention that she doesn’t want to see her children being Killed because they used up all they dark energy. That mean that her child was a Demon King)

    • @EliSan
      I was thinking that too! No way it’s a coincidence that all three candidates are seemingly orphans. It could be that they unknowingly did something to their parents. Or maybe since people dislike things with dark element by instinct, like Sun said, their parents ended up abandoning them. That would make sense especially since they were all from Leaf Bud city, where the God of Light is worshiped. It’s so sad when you think about it. Three good-hearted kids who had tough lives, all fated to either die or become the Demon King T^T. It’d be even sadder if it’s these same three who get reincarnated as candidates time after time.

  23. Erenu

    Thankkk youuu for the releaseeee!I love you guys! Sorry for my long comment starting now:
    -1- maybe Roland had the heirloom sword because he was a demon king candidate (royal Supreme Dragon Brigandine was one heirloom of Pink too)….
    -2- the fact that Pink was the one to orquest the dead of Roland in such a sadistic manner was enough for Roland to pissed off and Dissobey her. So, he stops Sun’s sufferings and even leaves with his body (remmember the deal between Sun and Pink: she owns his body! So it was a “f*** you bitch youwont have him” act from Roland,he was feeling guilty.Pink is going to be sooo pissed off…..
    3- Yu Wo is feeling guilty as well for Charlotte, so she made us feel guilty and sad too by writting this…and allowed Sun to feel a remorsefull-latebloomer-love.
    -4- remember how Yu Wo described Sun ‘s eyes as “open bust with no lust”—-> I believe he was in the trance from Scarlett. The words he says are the same as he wakes up from being ressurected. So he doesnt see the other knights at all,his soul is still on the trance so in his dispair his subconscient tries to comit suicide along with his grief.5-I still dont trust Scarlett… ..

    6- I love Yu Wo and I love you PR!! Thank youuuuu

  24. ShyFeather

    I just realized after looking at Sun’s lines again that there is some overlap of this chapter and the prologue. It looks like Sun was having these visions during the first half of the prologue. When he grabbed at his head and first started screaming “No, no, no! It wasn’t me!” was when he saw himself cut off his teacher’s arm, and all the holy knights were freaking out not knowing what was wrong with him. While Sun was silently watching what happened next, in the room he was repeating “It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me…” Then he made the connection that it was his fault, though I think his first suicide attempt happened before the very end of this chapter because after he tried to kill himself he says, “I did it. It was me… So it was me. Everything was me!” The same lines as this chapter ends. It’s really… eery. As least we know that Sun was hallucinating and not just waking from these visions thinking ‘I have to kill myself’.

  25. Monica

    I hope we got to see this story version from Neo point of view in the next next chapter. I believe Neo had his reason too (kinda curious because of the previous side stories). Thanks PR!

  26. Sense

    THIS, THIS is why we shouldn’t judge characters until we get the full story (especially if its from Yu-Wo-sensei, you don’t know what she has planned.) DX Damn, I knew Grisia would remember something….. but this? That’s way too much!

  27. Jynx3d

    Well I feel extremely anguished after reading this…Thanks for the chapter! There’s only two more volumes! I can’t wait to see how this whole mess will be resolved!

  28. Oh, Sun… I’m so sorry… Neo, Charlotte, I’m so sorry… Leaf… Judge… I just want to cry for them all… T-T

  29. someone

    Well, Sun’s naming abilities must have gotten worse over the years. ‘Charlotte’ is a decent name, but ‘Hungri’, ‘Whitey’, and ‘Judgment’, ‘Absenplum’, ‘Meetin’? XD

  30. Xeraphina

    Oh no! Well, that explains Sun’s actions in the previous chapter, but I’m still dying to figure out what happens next… Ugh, I feel like these last few volumes are going to be the death of me (so much happening!).

  31. kayue

    Oh dear, oh dear!
    Poor Sun. I still don’t feel sorry for Scarlett. This seems to be one maaajor guilt trip on him.
    Thx PR

  32. Shizuka

    Poor Grisia!!! I think everyone here suspected that his crisis in the previous chapter was due to unlocked memories but still…
    This chapter answers the question why Grisia tried to kill himself but make rise other questions, for example :Does Roland know since then that he’s one of the Demon King candidate (and of course all the “Demon King stuff”)? Does Pink know that Grisia was another one? Does Roland keep staying with Pink (or under her “assistance”, anyway)? Why make Roland apply for the Sun Knight position?
    Anyway I still hope that Roland has strong motivations of his actions and that he still retain some bits of his kind human nature…
    The cliffhanger (What is Grisia going to do? How his “brothers” can help him?) is postponed to the next chapter…
    Anyway thanks for the translation!!!

    • @Shizuka
      I wonder too how much Roland actually knew and how much was more due to Pink’s scheming. But thinking back… the first time Roland met Grisia after becoming a death knight, he did almost kill him. Somehow the explanation of that being an accident just doesn’t cut it now -_-‘. It’d be interesting to know how long Pink and Roland knew Grisia was a candidate.

      Pink might’ve thought it was a great place to hide Roland since no one would guess a Demon King candidate was the Sun Knight, but it seemed like Roland really wanted to become the Sun Knight on his own.

  33. Erenu

    I just thought of something after re-re-reading it for the 3rd time : If Sun has died, that means he is no longer a Demon king candidate as he fragment leaves his corpse and now the Demon King is born, so, no black haired Sun any more, ne? No more splitted personalitties…….and no more dark element, …………so why is He able to summon dark element in such a place as the Holy Temple??

    and a stranger thought…… what´s with this phrase????

    Scarlett: Child, remember, next time, don’t trust anyone else again……

    Else again???????????? WTF? again what?????? again is going to be a rivalty between 3 Demon king candidates? are they allways reincarnating and fighting all over again for the sake of becoming a whole Demon King? WTF!

    so many doubts, so many days to wait for answers T.T

    • EliSan

      @Erenu
      My guess is that even though his fragment left his body he is still a Demon King candidate and being one he can still claim the throne (since he is still alive). He feels guilty about everything now. Maybe he will decide to punish himself this way, by becoming the Demon King he never wonted to be. And to achieve this he will have to use everyone and trust no one.

    • Darkgrirmora97

      @Erenu
      Well when Roland was killed he must have lost his fragment too right? But somehow he was able to get it back and become the Demon King after he was “resurrected” as a corpse by Pink. So it is feasible that since Grisia is now resurrected he to can regain his fragment and is still a Demon King Candidate.

    • @Darkgrirmora97
      I never thought about what happens to a fragment if the candidate gets killed by a non-candidate. Does it automatically go to their lich? One thing different about Roland though is he was “resurrected” before either of the others had collected all three fragments.

  34. Jan

    So Sun’s going to be the Demon king??? Then what about Roland? Arrrg, what a great cliffhanger.
    Thanks for this great chapter though!

  35. MPToki

    Thank You PR =D
    Wow…
    What a chapter!
    So I guess this is why he wanted to kill himself…

  36. Silver

    I was just wondering. When Charlotte was dying, something floated out of the center of her forehead. A gem Fragment. Grisia is a Demon King candidate too when he was killed by Roland. So he also have a gem fragment. The question is: what happened to his gem fragment?
    Also, since some of his sealed memories were now unlocked, what actually happened before he went missing with lost memories? Whom did he encountered and fight with back then? Ahhhhhh, too many questions! Thanks for the great chapter! :D

  37. Darkgrirmora97

    T^T Ahhh God of Light NO! Why must this crazy madness continue on! I want my babies (read as Grisia and Roland) to go back to being happy and good and T^T ahh this story is killing me!!!!!!!!! Seriously and Charlotte got her future screwed up as well in a sad way and now is dead…. D’:
    At least I know I can count on Storm being okay since apparently the whole Holy temple will crash without him!

    Thanks PR!!! I’ll be waiting on bated breath for the next chapter! (no seriously with all of this crying getting done while rereading, it is pretty hard to breathe properly!)

  38. Feng

    Instead, my teacher interrupted him, “Aldrizzt, pass me pen paper.”

    “Pen paper?” Aldrizzt’s eyes turned wide as he exclaimed, “Are you asking for bandages? You have to hurry and treat your injury!”

    Hm, not “Aldrizzt, pass me a pen and a paper”?

    • [PR]raylight

      @Feng
      In the original chinese, it seems like Neo was rushing too much, that he didn’t even say “and” in the center. (He didn’t really make any sense) Aldrizzt was throughly confused by this, which is why he thought he was asking for bandages.

  39. Krescent

    hmm…i read in the comments that people think that roland acquired sun’s fragment since sun died…but didn’t roland die once too??

    • EliSan

      @Krescent
      It is indeed so but he didn’t die by another candidates hand + it was all masterminded by Pink….

  40. Rara

    can I ask? When charlotte die, her body is dissapear. But why sun body isn’t dissapear? Does that mean his fragment is still in his body? And he is still demon king candidate? (sorry my english too bad)

    • Gimei

      @Rara
      Charlottes Body didn’t really disappear on it’s own, it was Stephen who burnt her corpse. As for what happened to the fragments, we’re still waiting and speculating about the answer to that.

  41. bites

    “Keep you friends close and your enemies closer” – From The Godfather.

    What Grisia wanted to protect are those dear to him, but he end up the one doing the harm, plus he is hard in himself. That’s why he can’t forgive himself. By the way, does Whitey belong to Scarlet? Whitey is long gone and forgotten. What’s that unicorn purpose anyway? Dont tell me, ohmygod reincarnated?

    • @bites
      I was just thinking about Whitey. My first thought was that he’s some sort of “heirloom” like Roland’s sword, but he seems to be specifically connected to Grisia. And I wonder where he is right now anyway. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t captured with Scarlet.

  42. Hmm… I’m curious as to how Neo figured out Grisia was a Demon King candidate to begin with. Even if he found out that Grisia’s “sister” was a lich, the king didn’t even know the truth behind the Demon King.

    Could Scarlet have shown Grisia these memories, especially the ones Pink sealed, anytime before? Or was losing the block on his memories the price that Grisia paid? And I haven’t seen anyone mention this, but didn’t the Pope have to pay a price for Grisia’s revival?

    Thanks PR! for an awesome chapter and for approving a ton of comments, making sure there are no spoilers! Can’t wait for the next one!

    • chay

      @黒
      well the former 12 holy knights knew about the demon king (mentioned in the side stories) and maybe all of the people knew about the demon king… but what they understood was that the birth of the demon king is a disaster…they also dont know how the demon king is born.. so for a lich to pick a human(living person) is so unusual, it would only make sense that the lich has picked a candidate…
      as for the price paid, according to the explanation on the earlier volumes, a perfect resurection equals to no side effect(like horns, breasts, etc)…but sun wanting to make sure of a perfect resurection has paid the price which is inflicted in his own body…the pope, being unable to pay the price, has to perform the resurection which on his cas 1 out of 10 chances of perfectly resurecting…
      well, as for the memory thing, my mind is also on a swirl..hahaha
      but my explanation is of my own understanding…hehehe

    • @chay
      Ah! Do you remember which side stories? It’s been awhile since I’ve read them.

      And the Pope can’t pay the price? *sigh* Maybe I need to go back and reread previous books -_-‘. Was that mentioned around the time Grisia first announced that he learned resurrection?

      Btw, thanks for the reply! XD

    • [PR]raylight

      @黒
      I believe that chay is talking about the When Teacher Wasn’t Teacher Yet side stories, where the 37th gen made a mention to the demon king.

      Also, to quote the Pope: (From Volume 6 Extra chapter – Shared Rule)
      “But my success rate of a complete revival is too low, and his injuries are so severe. This will make Resurrection much harder… Even if I am willing to pay a price to resurrect him, I can’t do it! Grisia could do it because he is the Sun Knight, the one closest to the God of Light.”

      So yes, the Pope is unable to pay the price.

      As for the memories and the price that Grisia had to pay, it will be explained all in due time. ^-^

    • @[PR]raylight
      Thanks! I figured the 37th gen had general information about the Demon King. I was just surprised Neo knew there were multiple candidates for the position. At the time, it seemed like that was part of the secret info passed down through the royal families.

      I remember reading that in the extra chapter, but I misinterpreted it as even though the Pope could pay the price, it still wouldn’t give him a good success rate. Thanks again!

      The only other possibility besides his memories I can think of is losing one of his elements. I’m looking forward to what happens next!

    • 15B

      @黒
      One of the former Knight-Captains makes a comment when Neo comes back severely injured along the lines of, “How can Neo be so severely injured?! Don’t tell me we’re unlucky enough to have the Demon King be born in our generation!”

  43. Dino

    I know what that stupid Grisia loses…. But *spoiler*? Even if the pope is to die, I won’t have mined… Anyway thanku PR u guys are the best!

  44. Karen

    Interesting… I just thought of something. It seems clear that Sun didn’t lose his memory this time so why does he seem more like the dark version of himself? He seemed ok when he was battling Chhardl

  45. Zo

    did anyone else notice that the words Sun says it this match those he said in the prolog? So… Couldn’t this be suns point of view while he’s trying to kill himself?

  46. Kappa

    Maybe she should have told him earlier about split personality, Pink and Roland.
    Also what has happened to Judgement?
