The Legend of Sun Knight V4C4: “Recruit Powerful Assistants”

The Legend of Sun Knight Volume 4: To Slay a Dragon

Fourth Tactic of Slaying a Dragon: “Recruit Powerful Assistants” – translated by ErodingPersona

Earlier, when the unicorn and Ice Knight had both simultaneously used their magic, I had had a faint feeling… that I would be able to perform those magic spells too. Regardless of whether it was Ice Wall or Lightning, I felt I could cast all of them as well. If so, of course I should take the opportunity, while Ice Knight was still walking in slow motion, to quickly and stealthily gather the elements and blast him so that he would be unable to react!

I burst through the small door and yelled to the three people in front of me, “Don’t use that road, and don’t follow me!”

Hearing this, the three of them stopped dead in their tracks and swiveled their heads around to look at me.

I didn’t let the unicorn stop, only roaring again while passing by them, “Hurry up and run!”

“You didn’t even stop!” Sybil grumbled loudly, “To think that I had actually felt momentarily touched when I heard that you wanted to go off alone!”

I turned my head and bellowed, “If I stopped, I might as well run straight into prison! Also, if all of you don’t start running, you guys might as well just walk straight into prison with your own feet!”

After I finished speaking, the three of them immediately separated and ran off in different directions.

The minute the three of them separated, Ice Knight appeared behind me. There was not a single scratch on him, and not even a speck of dust could be seen. However, this wasn’t particularly strange, as I had not aimed for him from the start; rather, I aimed at the holy knights who had formed a protective barrier like a metal wall behind him… As they stood there without moving, they became as easy of targets as what walls would be.

Ice Knight barely stopped for a moment, and then he ignored the three others and started chasing me.

Seeing this, I belted out, “Unicorn, run! Run as fast as you can!”

The unicorn neighed aloud, sounding very excited. It ran faster and faster, so fast that I could barely open my eyes. Still, that didn’t matter — I could just close my eyes. After all, I still hadn’t figured out any differences between keeping my eyes opened or closed.

I felt relieved instead of bothered by the unicorn’s high speed because a person definitely couldn’t outrun such a fast horse… Unless a lot of icicles kept appearing before the horse.

An icicle had suddenly burst out from the ground. However, the unicorn’s reflexes were nothing to scoff at. It made a sudden, forced turn about two meters away from the icicle and evaded it. Yet, barely a few strides after that, another icicle appeared before us again. The unicorn still refused to stop, and dodged once more around the icicle.

It seemed as if the unicorn was prepared to go against Ice Knight. The unicorn’s evasive skills were indeed very good. We might have even managed to successfully escape… If I hadn’t fallen off of the unicorn.

“Stupid horse!” I roared while using a holy spell on my poor backside, which had almost been split in half. “Did you think that I was glued to your back?”

The unicorn stopped dead in its tracks. It turned and watched me with a timid look on its face, but it wasn’t willing to walk over. It actually stared at me for a bit, and then turned to stare at Ice Knight, as though it was very troubled and wanted to swap the person riding it… You stupid horse!

I had just finished healing my backside and was about to stand and beat the horse when a shadow fell upon me. I tilted my head up and saw Ice Knight’s face with its dead facial muscles directly above me. He ripped the mask from my face.

This is the end!

I blanched, but I discovered that Ice Knight’s expression had also changed… Oh? So his facial muscles aren’t dead?

This was the first time an expression had actually crossed Ice Knight’s face. He stared at me with a very surprised expression… An opportunity!

Attack! Regardless of what attack I’m capable of using, I must hurry up and perform it!

“How can you be here, S…” Ice Knight seemed to hesitate while saying this, but halfway through with his words, he suddenly stopped and stared wide-eyed at me.

With sudden inspiration, I held both of my hands out toward him and roared, “Chains of Darkness, seal my enemy!”

A large amount of the dark element pulsed out of my hands and scores of black chains suddenly writhed upon the ground. Those chains were compressed with layers upon layers of vast amounts of dark element.

Looking at the chains, I wondered whether Ice Knight had ever seen these before, for there was a mystified expression on his face.

It doesn’t matter, his reflexes can only be described as slow, so now is exactly the best time to overpower him!

A countless number of chains wrapped around Ice Knight from head to toe, tightening securely around his whole body and even his mouth. I had no wish of him yelling to attract the attention of the other knights chasing after us.

After that, he finally reacted. With his Divine Stick, he started breaking the Chains of Darkness.

Do you really think it’ll be that easy? I gave a cold laugh and called, “Unicorn, now… If you dare to disobey me and not attack him, I’ll tie you up as well!”

The unicorn immediately rushed forward, the single horn on its head shining with a far more concentrated amount of holy element than ever before, and crashed into Ice Knight. However, this attack only stopped Ice Knight from breaking apart the chains. He didn’t even look as though he had been hurt much at all.

“Stupid horse!” I roared, “Don’t you see that his whole body is full of ‘light?’ Yet you want to use the holy element to attack him — are you helping him scratch an itch? Use other elements to attack him!”

The unicorn neighed to the heavens and the sky was suddenly filled with a lot of clouds that crackled with thunder. As the lightning bolts started to strike in succession, Ice Knight didn’t have any more time to break the chains. He hurriedly gathered the ice element again and again to form an ice wall above his head to block the numerous lightning strikes aimed at him.

I dispersed the ice wall he formed, and as he was unable to react instantly, he got hit by one of the lightning bolts.

One strike, two strikes… Ice Knight didn’t fall or faint. He only faced me, seemingly staring at me, yet still not giving up on solidifying the ice element.

However, his ability to gather could not even compare to my speed at dispersing the ice element. Unable to form an ice wall, he finally could only rely on the thing surrounding his body… That thing called… “Battle aura!” I finally remembered the name.

The unicorn continued to strike with lightning bolts until it finally stopped and stared at me.

“You can’t do it anymore?” I rolled my eyes at it and grumpily said, “You really are useless. Are you really a horse worth 5000 gold ducats?”

After saying this, I turned my head around and faced Ice Knight. The sky was already filled with even more of the lightning element that was even stronger than before. However, the lightning element had not been gathered by the unicorn. It had been gathered by me.

There’s no time left. The holy knights at the back will catch up anytime now. I have to use my quickest speed to strike him down!

The lightning crashed down.

Ice Knight raised his head upwards and stared at the sky, and then for some reason, dispersed the battle aura surrounding him… The lightning bolt struck him squarely. He stood for only a second before simply falling to the side.

I jumped back in shock. Luckily, his heart was still beating. He must have simply fainted when he was hit by the lightning bolt.

I walked over, first picking up the popsicle, then kicking its owner lightly. Seeing that he did not react to the kick, I wiped the cold sweat off my face.

I had thought that even if I joined forces with the unicorn, I still might have been unable to defeat this guy. Fortunately, we managed to beat him.

Still, I couldn’t let my guard down. I wrapped him up using numerous Chains of Darkness. Only when he looked like a ginormous black cocoon did I stop, satisfied with my handiwork.

Once I stopped, I heard heavy footsteps. I hurriedly looked for my mask and put it back on. At this time, the knights thundering toward us were only a mere hundred meters away from me.

I sneered, slowly placing the popsicle against its owner’s neck, although at first I couldn’t find where his neck was… I had really wrapped too many chains around him.

I yelled out to the holy knights, “If you don’t value his life, then go ahead and rush forward!”

Seeing this, all the holy knights stopped dead in their tracks. Their eyes widened until they were as big as a horse’s eyes.

The most important fact though, was that not a single one of them dared to move, just like I had expected.

“If you dare to chase after us, I won’t guarantee Ice Knight’s life!”

After laying down these threats, I dragged the giant cocoon onto the horse, and under the gaze of the audience, I calmly led the cocoon and the unicorn away from the area.

When I brought the cocoon and the unicorn to the appointed gathering spot, everyone’s jaws dropped straight to their chests.

“You, you really know how to use magic?” Iacchi was the first to gulp and ask me with some fright.

Yuna followed with a shriek, “How is that possible! How can a cleric of the God of Light know how to use magic that requires dark element?”

How should I know? Even if you ask me, I can’t give you an answer! All that matters is that I do know how to use it.

“Grisia! What did you do?” Woodrow really was the leader of the group. He was the first person to get to the main issue at hand.

“What are you yelling so loudly for?” The situation had truly gone a bit off course, so I could not afford to lose my cool. I assumed a calm manner and said, “Didn’t I just lead the unicorn out of the city so that we could sell it later and split the money?”

“Then what is that?” Woodrow gestured toward the cocoon on the ground and yelled, “Sneaking out the unicorn and selling it is one thing, but kidnapping the Ice Knight is another matter altogether!”

“My god! We are making an enemy out of the entire Church of the God of Light…” Yuna mumbled off to the side.

“Let him go immediately!” Woodrow roared.

“Let him go?” I sneered, “If we let him go now, what will we do if he brings back the others to pursue us? As long as he is in our hands, the holy knights, hot on our heels, won’t rush up and slice us into pieces!”

Hearing this, Woodrow flinched. His mouth opened, as though he still wanted to argue, but in the end, he closed it and didn’t say anything else.

Seeing this, I comforted them by saying, “Don’t panic, as long as we get to a distance where the holy knights will be unable to follow us, we can immediately release him and bring the unicorn to wherever we want. Nothing will happen to any of us.”

At this, everyone’s expressions lightened up. However, Woodrow seemed to be struggling with himself for a while before mumbling, “I’m very sorry. After we split the money, we may have to go our separate ways.”

My heart jumped. I looked at the rest of them. Even though they all wore uneasy expressions on their faces, none of them spoke up… I dropped my smile and said indifferently, “That’s alright. As long as I get my share of the money, I’m fine with it.”

“Of course,” Woodrow nodded his head as a gesture of confirmation.

I nodded my head as well and told everyone, “Why don’t we take a break? We can continue the discussion about where we should go tomorrow morning.”

“Okay.” Woodrow nodded and then said, “Now let’s arrange the guards for tonight.”

“There’s no need for that, let me act as the guard for the whole night!” I smiled and said, “After all, as you all know, I have already slept for ten days! If you want me to sleep now, it might even be harder than kidnapping the Ice Knight!”

Everyone laughed. Woodrow politely replied, “We’ll have to trouble you with this then.”

I nodded.

“So I have been abandoned…” I used a rock as my pillow and looked up toward the sky. The unicorn was sleeping on my left, while the gigantic cocoon was sound asleep at my right. Everyone else was also sleeping close by. Their breaths were slow and even, as if they were all sleeping very soundly.

Although they have already planned to abandon me, they have yet to raise their guard against me.

I slowly stood up and walked toward where everyone else was sleeping. These people are really naïve! If I can force Ice Knight into submission, can’t I just beat them into submission as well?

First of all, a single person escaping always attracts less attention than a group. Second, this way the amount I would obtain would not be 1,000 gold ducats, but rather 25,000 gold ducats!

I walked over to Sybil, slowly leaned down and…lightly tucked her in with the cloak that she was using as a blanket.

Really! At this age and she’s still kicking aside her blanket!

I shook my head in frustration and decided to walk back to my place and continue lying down. However, when I turned around, I was shocked to see a person standing not far off from where we were.

That’s…

“Scarlet?” I gasped in surprise.

But the unicorn is still asleep in its original spot! Yet Scarlet appeared too. Wasn’t she fabricated by the unicorn? Or does Scarlet only appear when the unicorn is asleep? Or maybe there is actually no connection at all between Scarlet and the unicorn…

While I was still thinking, Scarlet had already skipped to my side, and then, holding something with both of her hands as if she were giving me a priceless treasure, she said, “Big brother dropped this.”

It was a book.

“I dropped this?” I flipped open the book and reflexively lowered my head to use my eyes to face it… This was yet another action that I could not understand. Eyes couldn’t help me “see” anything on the book.

I could sense the elements; the book had the wood element, and on top of the wood element, there was a very thin layer of the stone element. The stone element drew out “words,” but such little stone element caused me to have a hard time differentiating it. Still, I managed to figure out the words in the end.

“A Complete Guide to Necromancy Spells” was written on the book’s cover.

“There’s still something else!” Scarlet let out a tinkling, silver-belled laugh, and innocently said, “However, it’s not here. Head northeast, and you will find it there.”

“What is it?”

Scarlet tilted her head to the side and said, “Try touching your chest.”

Hearing this, I patted my chest. Instantly, an uneasy feeling enveloped me… Was it originally empty here?

With a heart full of doubt, I lifted my head up and asked, “Scarlet, you have my book, and you also know where my belongings are. Does that mean you know who I am… Scarlet?”

I stopped in surprise — I couldn’t feel Scarlet anymore. Has she disappeared again? What in the world is going on?

I abruptly opened my mouth and asked, “You’re awake?”

This had nothing to do with Scarlet. Rather, Ice Knight, who was lying close by, had opened his eyes and was staring straight at me.

I believed that if his mouth hadn’t been gagged by the Chains of Darkness, he would certainly have already started yelling at me in rage, wouldn’t he? I didn’t need my memories to know this; there weren’t many people in this world who would like to be bound up like a cocoon.

I walked back to my original place and sat down. Mischievously, I patted his head and said, “Don’t panic, when we reach somewhere far enough that your holy knights can no longer catch up with us, we’ll let you go, so don’t bother struggling so hard.”

After a pause, I changed my tone and coldly said, “This way, I won’t need to waste any energy to beat you up.”

Ice Knight only blinked his eyes in reply. After that, he really didn’t move a muscle and merely continued staring at me.

I flipped through “A Complete Guide to Necromancy Spells” the entire night. Then, I conveniently used the readily available guinea pig next to me, Ice Knight, to experiment spells on.

“…”

The ice element surrounding Ice Knight had always tended to gather around him. Luckily, the rate of gathering still wasn’t as quick as my ability to disperse it.

Later on, we started on our journey to escape the pursuers. The first major problem we encountered was: how were we supposed to transport a cocoon that was as big as a human?

Sybil was the first to come up with a suggestion. “Let Yuna cast a strength enhancing spell on me. I’ll carry him on my back!”

I supposed Ice Knight’s appearance must be pretty good. Even Sybil was drooling over him.

“How long do you plan to carry him on your back?” I grumpily asked, “A day, three days, or five days? Or do you plan on using ‘weeks’ to measure the amount of time?”

“This…” Sybil doubtfully replied, “Three… No! Five days!”

Hm! It seems that Ice Knight’s good looks are at the level of “people are willing to carry him for five days straight.”

I suddenly felt very curious and asked, “Sybil, if you were to carry me, how many days would you be willing to carry me?”

Sybil looked at my face solemnly and said, “Based on just appearance, I would be willing to carry you for a week, but after getting acquainted with your personality…”

“Don’t tell me it has dropped down to a day?” I asked a little uneasily.

“No.” Sybil shrugged and said, “I only want to get as far away from you as possible.”

“…”

At least my appearance is good enough that “people are willing to carry me for seven days straight.” After comforting myself, I looked at the unicorn and then looked at Ice Knight before I asked the latter, “Hey! Are you a virgin?”

Everyone’s jaws dropped to their chests again.

Ice Knight simply glared at me, not even deigning to give a single word of reply. How dare he look upon me with so much disdain… Ah! His mouth is still being covered by the Chains of Darkness!

I quickly undid the chains and asked again, “You can talk now. So, hurry up and answer me, are you a virgin?”

He continued glaring at me without saying a single word.

“Even if he was, he would never admit to that, would he? Something so embarrassing… Er! Grisia, I’m not saying that your being a virgin is very embarrassing!” Igor hurriedly explained.

I glared at Igor before pulling out the popsicle that hung at my waist. Holding it against Ice Knight’s neck, I roared, “Are you a virgin or not? Answer me!”

Even when he was facing imminent death, Ice Knight still maintained his icy silence. This is bad. It’s not like I can actually kill him, can I?

Maybe I should torture him and force the answer out of him? I wondered for a moment, a little distressed. After a while, I started to smile instead.

I placed the popsicle back at my waist, hauled up Ice Knight and threw him toward the unicorn… The unicorn had no intention of even evading the ginormous cocoon.

“…Damn!”

Everyone sucked in a deep breath. Iacchi even spat out an expletive. Finally Igor mumbled, “Since when did this world have so many old virgins past the age of twenty?”

“I’m not a virgin!” I vigorously denied right away.

Iacchi shrugged his shoulders, and Igor smiled pacifyingly while saying, “Yes, yes! If you say you aren’t then you aren’t.”

After resolving the transport problem, we didn’t have any more time to waste. We immediately started on our journey of escaping. To me, it would also be known as a boring riding journey.

As I had to match everyone’s speed of walking, the unicorn had to trot along very slowly. I felt immensely bored and started a one-sided conversation with the cocoon. “Is your real name really Ice?”

Ice Knight shook his head.

At this, my curiosity spiked and I asked, “It’s not? Then what’s your name?”

He stared at me for quite some time before replying slowly, “Ecilan Ice.”

“That’s so hard to pronounce.” I frowned. Ecilan? What sort of person would give someone a name like that?

“I’ve never hoped that you would pronounce my name correctly,” he blandly said.

I was surprised, “What did you say?”

He was silent for a while, and if I didn’t mistake it, he seemed to have peeked at the others out of the corner of his eyes before turning his attention back on me and shaking his head, “Nothing.”

“Alright then, Ecilan, are there any other members of the Twelve Holy Knights close by?”

Although I asked him this, I didn’t really expect that he would tell me the truth. However, even if he lied to me, it would be fine as well. Of course I would be able to determine if he was lying to me or not, and from there I could get the answer I wanted!

“Yes, there is. Knight-Captain Blaze is close by.” He nodded his head.

I was stunned for a moment. Ecilan’s heartbeat didn’t speed up at all…He didn’t lie! He actually told me that a member of the Twelve Holy Knights was close by, and he even told me who it was!

“Will he chase after us?” I asked a little nervously.

Ecilan nodded his head and answered without the slightest hesitation, “He will.”

This is bad. I frowned, “What if I used your life to threaten him?”

Ecilan knitted his eyebrows together. He looked as though he was thinking this through. After a while, he explained in detail, “He will back down, but he won’t give up. He will never give up.”

Hearing this, I said with a smile, “How naïve, do you really believe that your comrades will never abandon you?”

Ecilan nodded his head and said, “The Twelve Holy Knights will never abandon the Twelve Holy Knights.”

“Is that so?” My tone turned low and I coldly said, “If there’s a chance, let’s try it out. When he’s on the brink of death, we’ll see whether or not he’ll abandon you.”

“He won’t.” Ecilan looked at me and repeated in an extremely firm tone, “The Twelve Holy Knights will never abandon the Twelve Holy Knights.”

I gave a cold snort. To think that a guy with such a cold and expressionless face could be such a naïve idiot!

After that, we reached a fork in the road. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks and turned to look at Woodrow.

Woodrow read the signboard and said, “If we follow the path on the right we will be heading northeast toward the Kingdom of Moon Orchid. If we head left we will be entering the border of the Kingdom of Forgotten Sound. Although there are two roads, I don’t think we have a choice.”

He flicked his eyes toward Ecilan, sighed, and said, “Kidnapping the Ice Knight and stepping into the Kingdom of Forgotten Sound with him? I’m afraid that the minute we step into a city will be the time we’ll know what that city’s prisons look like.”

“That’s a given!” Yuna glared at me and coldly said, “The Kingdom of Forgotten Sound is the base of the Church of the God of Light. Everyone there knows the Twelve Holy Knights…”

“Especially the leader of the Twelve Holy Knights, the Sun Knight!”

Sybil interrupted suddenly. When she finished speaking, she revealed a face full of adoration, and in a dreamy tone she said, “The rumors say that the Sun Knight has bright, golden hair, sky blue eyes and skin as white and smooth as milk…”

After saying this, Sybil suddenly stopped to stare at me. She couldn’t have used me as her “base model” to dream up her Sun Knight, could she?

I couldn’t help but say in a sour voice, “Is the Sun Knight a girl? Your entire description seems to be describing a gorgeous beauty!”

“He’s handsome!” Sybil immediately snapped back to her senses and forcefully countered, “What’s more, he’s a truly elegant and handsome guy, unlike you! Even though you have the same golden hair, blue eyes and pale skin, you have absolutely no class!”

“An elegant, handsome guy?”

I patted Ecilan’s head and intentionally messed up his hair before saying with satisfaction, “Isn’t this guy one of the elegant members of the Twelve Holy Knights as well? Look at him now — how in the world does he look elegant when he is wrapped up like a cocoon? Your Sun Knight is probably exactly like him!”

“Stop bullying him!” Sybil shrieked and rushed forward to tidy up Ecilan’s hair, and at the same time sneakily touch his face a few times before she was willing to raise her head up and answer me, “Not to mention, Ice Knight doesn’t need to be elegant. He is the cold and handsome type! In addition, Blaze Knight, who was mentioned yesterday, is the wild spitfire type!”

“What, does the Church of the God of Light choose its knights based on looks?” I rolled my eyes, unhappily retorting, “Why are they all handsome guys?”

“It’s not like that.” Yuna shook her head, face tinged with slight helplessness, “All of that is what girls imagine them to be like. It’s possible that not everyone in the Twelve Holy Knights is good-looking.”

“But Ice Knight is really handsome! The rumors aren’t necessarily wrong!” The moment Sybil finished yelling, she hurriedly lowered her head down and asked Ecilan, “Right, right? At least the Sun Knight should be a super handsome guy right?”

Ecilan indifferently said, “I do not know what your standard is.”

Sybil swiftly asked, “He should at least be more handsome than Grisia, right?”

He was silent for quite some time. Under Sybil’s relentless barrage of questions, he finally replied, “Should be around the same.”

This made Sybil frown, and I gloated, “See! Why yearn for the Sun Knight? Just looking at me is enough.”

“He definitely has a lot more class than you!” Sybil said indignantly.

At this moment, Woodrow walked past Sybil and me, who were still arguing heatedly, and approached Ecilan, asking with deadly seriousness, “Why have the Twelve Holy Knights come to such a remote area? This place is already part of the Shadow God’s territory.”

Ecilan gave a simple reply, “To look for someone.”

“Who are you looking for?” Woodrow asked in surprise.

He looked indifferently at Woodrow but didn’t dignify his question with a reply.

However, Woodrow didn’t dare press him any further. When he saw that Ecilan wasn’t going to answer, Woodrow walked away of his own accord.

From then on, we naturally continued on our journey. The only difference was that we no longer maintained our silence along the way. Not only did I argue with Sybil throughout the journey, Iacchi would also slink up and touch… Of course he wasn’t touching me! He would touch the popsicle hanging by the side of my waist.

As for Igor, he kept on yelling for me to remember whether or not I knew any other interesting spells.

I thought for a while before getting off the unicorn and squatting down. I touched the earth’s surface and searched beneath its crust.

Hm! It doesn’t seem like there are any human skeletons… Ah! Found something!

Once I moved my hand away from the earth, a bunch of ashen things surfaced on top of the dirt.

“Bones?” Sybil looked at the pile of things in confusion.

I carefully manipulated them, injecting the dark element into the bones and then approximately piecing them together one-by-one, hoping I wasn’t getting it wrong… It was a pity that there were no human skeletons beneath the earth, for there were a lot of living people’s skeletal frameworks present here that I could use as reference to piece together a dead person’s bones.

After I finished piecing everything together, I mended the joints between the bones with a thick layer of dark element, using it to replace the rotted joints. To increase its cuteness I used the dark element to replace its flesh and long ears… Finally, a black rabbit started to jump around on the ground.

“Ne…Necromancer!”

Yuna weakly said, “I really have no idea why, but I can’t even summon up the energy to shriek now. Grisia, you are really more and more unlikely to be a cleric from the Church of the God of Light.”

While the three men were still staring wide-eyed with fear at the rabbit, Sybil was the one who was the least afraid of it. She actually ran over and picked up the skeletal rabbit, beaming as she said, “It’s so cute! Grisia, don’t let it disappear!”

I shrugged my shoulders and replied, “Okay.”

After seeing Sybil’s actions, everyone looked at the rabbit. Igor was so excited that he even came up with a suggestion. “Grisia, since you can make a rabbit, it must means that you can also make a horse, right? If we have horses, then we can travel faster.”

“I can, as long as there are horse skeletons around.”

“Where am I supposed to get a horse’s skeleton for you…” Igor replied, crestfallen.

I shrugged my shoulders. If there weren’t any bones, then I couldn’t do anything either. Eight to nine out of ten necromancy spells required bones.

“Then why don’t you make a bone dagger for me to play with?” Igor excitedly said, “In all those old legends, the warriors who successfully slay a dragon always use one of the dragon’s bones to make a blade.”

“If you draw me a design, then I’ll make it for you.”

Iacchi butted in with an insult, “This uncouth fellow? The fact that he knows how to write is already a miracle in itself! As if he’d be able to draw a design…”

“Stop fooling around! We should continue on our journey,” Woodrow suddenly shouted, his tone of voice grim. Everyone immediately remembered that we were supposed to be escaping. We squelched our fooling around and hastened on with our journey. Naturally, I once again rode the unicorn, and we continued on our silent trek on both foot and horse.

“You shouldn’t have used necromancy before them.”

“What?” I lowered my head downwards and stared at Ecilan, who was lying horizontally before me. He was the one who had spoken just now, even though his voice had been barely above a whisper.

“What did you say?”

However, Ecilan just stared at me and maintained his silence.

Seeing this, I pretended that I had not heard him at all. I fished out the book on necromancy spells from my possessions and continued to study other spells. I also conveniently experimented on the guy closest to me. Of course, that guy was Ecilan, who was separated from me only by the Chains of Darkness.

“…”

You really can’t blame me for liking to use him as a guinea pig. It’s not my fault that he’s so suitable to be one.

No matter how much I experimented on him, he always maintained his usual frostiness, not letting out a sound and not even having a change in facial expression. Besides that cold look in his eyes, he never made a single move in protest. He really was the model guinea pig of guinea pigs for experiments!

I happily continued with my experiments until Sybil noticed it. She was so angry, as if her husband had just been toyed with, and together with an equally furious Yuna, the two of them yanked each side of my face and gave me a serious warning to stop bullying the Ice Knight. Having had my facial skin almost torn off, I could only give up on experimenting on my perfect guinea pig. Instead, I practiced some necromancy spells that did not require a guinea pig.

Spell of Bone-Searching: Can be used to search for bones beneath the earth’s surface.

Bone Prison: A defensive spell that grants the ability to use bones to create a wall.

Bone Piercer: From beneath the ground, a thorn created from bones will rush up and pierce the enemy.

No matter how many I read, they’re all about using the dark element to manipulate bones!

I simply flipped to the last few pages of the book to see if there were any different spells. As I expected, some interesting spells started showing up, like Encroaching Death. It was a large-scale offensive spell. Its advantages were that it was hard to defend against and escape from because the affected area was very large. However, its shortcoming was that the opponent’s speed of dying was very slow, so there was even the chance of the spell caster being unable to sustain the spell long enough for the enemy to die.

However, it could at least make the opposition lose their offensive power. Hence, when facing a large group of enemies, it is a very useful spell. At least, that was what the book said.

Ooohhh! I should hurry up and learn this spell. After all, I did kidnap the Ice Knight, and it’s possible that an entire swarm of holy knights might be pursuing me.

“Stop reading that. You shouldn’t learn any of that,” Ecilan suddenly opened his mouth and said.

“Oh?” I asked him while reading, “Then what is it that I should learn?”

Ecilan, however, went back to being silent again. He really is a strange guy!

Since he “had no other comments,” I continued flipping through the book.

Summoning a death knight…

    OMG finally!!! Thanks a lot guys!!! Why Icelan didn’t say anything I wondered :( He should have recognized Sun!!!

    • King0Mik

      @Sophia Tinh
      I’m pretty sure he did.
      Remember, he was surprised when he saw Sun’s face, so obviously, he recognized him.
      And he didn’t get the chance to tell Sun that he’s the Sun Knight since Sun just went ahead and cocooned him in Chains of Darkness.

      @King0Mik he definantly recognized sun but I think he wanted to play it out and see what happens. I’m sure ice noticed that sun didn’t know he was sun so why would he cause a commotion by telling him, rather he is more like assessing the situation.

    I knew it. Scarlet is Pink’s new avatar and she was the one that attacked, kidnapped, and gave amnesia to Grisa. And poor Ecilan being captured by an amnesiac Grisa and becoming a guinea pig for Grisa to test out necromancy spells on. He keeps trying to make Grisa remember who he is without saying it flat out. And Ecilan now knows without a doubt how dangerous Grisa is and how the only thing that keeps the world safe is the image of the Sun Knight that chains Grisa down. And I feel sorry for Woodrow and the rest for when Grisa get’s his memories back and if they ever find out he is the Sun Knight they will have to be eliminated to protect the Sun Knight’s image.

    • yurihime

      @Gohankuten
      Yeah.. I too think that Scarlet is Pink’s new avatar.. Also, don’t you think scarlet isn’t too far away from pink in real color?

    • AC

      @Mitsou
      Well, I also don’t think Scarlet = Pink. That would be… predictable. And since when Yu Wo’s novels are predictable?

    • Jasae Bushae

      @AC
      my original theory was that scarlet was that eternal tranquility that neo gave to sun (logicing that if something like the dragon saint can talk then something considered the most powerful of water items would certainly be able to)
      however…the necromancy angle narrows it down ^^;

  3. beta

    And so next volume and on will be the adventures of the Church’s quick-fix lookalike Sun Knight struggling to maintain the appearances of his predecessor :P

    …what, you really thought the Demon King in the teasers could have ever been anyone else? Really?

    • [PR]azakura

      He’s actually being sarcastic ‘coz that is totally not true XD

    • beta

      @[PR]azakura
      The best part is how totally in-line that plot would be. Wouldn’t bat an eye if it happened. I was tempted to go for specific bs and say Roland became the stand-in Sun Knight, but vague was better.

      Edit: no, the real best part is how now I’m starting to look at my own made-up stuff and seriously weigh the possibilities of them actually cropping up in some way. This freaking series.

  4. KC

    I wonder how Grisia will be able to explain his situation if he ever comes back

    • kitsunewannabe

      @KC
      You forget, Grisia is not only a master magician/cleric/necromancer/etc…(Sun: “I’m a Holy Knight Dammit!”) He’s the KING of BS. He’ll think of something. He was an orphan so the “evil twin” excuse isn’t THAT farfetched. Plus who is the general populace going to believe? a small band of thieves or the “Truth” that everyone knows and the Church of the god of Light? Even if they spilled the beans nobody would believe them. I feel sorry for the rest of the holy knights for having such a twisted leader.

    • Alyss

      @kitsunewannabe
      Grisa won’t get away with it, Judge is gonna KILL him when/if he gets back XD
      Plus Roland, and Ice, and maybe Blaze….

    • AC

      @TANy
      I’m almost (almost) positive volumes 1 and 2 mention the fact. Very briefly, but they do.

  5. Sen

    Yay! It’s out!!! I was checking pretty much every several minutes and was silently squealing and jumping around when it came out XD
    I wonder how they’ll act when or if they find out he’s actually the Sun Knight~ ^_^

  6. shinikage

    oh boy grisia is totally on evil mode. when he recovers his memories i want to know what will he do….

  7. Titamoon

    Thanksfor the new chapter! Poor Ecilan. Can’t say that it’s Sun or it would ruin the Church’s image. Couldn’t fight back, or it would be disloyal (or would it be disobeying orders?). Wouldn’t say if he is a virgin, and gets thrown on top of a virginity-tester (unicorn). And to keep his own image, can’t cry out or ask for help when he is used as a guinea pig by his own leader. When Sun gets his memories back, he should either beg forgiveness on his knees, or (hopefully) get a beating.

    • Lady_Wolf

      @Titamoon
      Ah, knowing Sun, he’ll probably say that Ice now owes him a favour, because he has seen Sun’s true personality. Or wasn’t killed by the Dark spells. :P

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @Lady_Wolf
      Only in this Novel would there be a main character as twisted as a villain that makepeople owe him favors for the rest of their lives, and greatly twist words around to his favor…Only in this novel

  8. Anonymous

    Delightful! I love Ecilan’s troubled state (at several points). It’s somewhat unclear, but I hope that he has indeed fully understood the amnesia state–this is probably the most likely case by this point, leading to several of the wonderful points.

    I’m also very grateful to the Pink-related comment above: even disregarding everything uncertain, the possibility of Scarlet being Pink’s new avatar (especially given the giving of the book) is something I should have realised on my own, and that I’m now mentally kicking myself for not thinking of.

    *glee*

    …now, when will Ecilan Ice have a chance to communicate with Grisia privately, and however will a dragon end up taking part in this story… (Unless I’ve mixed up something.)

    As always, thank you very very much for these translations!

  9. TOTO

    WHY ARE YOU SO EVIL SUN? WHY?! and why wont ecilan say a freaking thing! this is so frustrating!

  10. MPToki

    Wow…
    Poor Ecilan…
    When Grisa gets his memories back, there will be lots of problems…
    I wonder if Scarlet is the new Pink?
    Thank You for updating this chapter =D

  11. Darkgrirmora

    SSUUNNN!!!!!!!!!
    Lol hahahahahaaha I love this man!! At the same time I detest him too!!! Such conflicting emotions are they even possible!!! 0.0 but overall I love him :D
    Omg I couldn’t sleep and was reading previous chapters when I saw this update =.= why didn’t I check for the update sooner…..
    .. Anyways moving on now … ICE HANG IN THERE!!!!!!!!!! Please let blaze show up soon!!!
    And Roland oh Roland I love you…. I hope sun doesn’t make another death knight •.•!!
    And seriously I facepalmed SOO many times this chapter I hope I don’t lose brain cells … What if I lose so many I forget how to read….. NOOOO 0,0 GOD OF LIGHT WHY??!!! *stops terrible brain cell diminishing habit*
    And sun…. Getting abandoned by the “newly found adventurers team” is sad
    But still being forever supported by the twelve…. Well eleven holy knights (even as he’s bullying ice 0.0 … maybe sun should quit his horrible habits too….) :’) happy days!!!!

  12. Little Dragon Girl

    On last sentence:

    …Gimme a break. I’m snickering at the irony and slapping my forehead at the same time….Oh well, at least it promises to be an interesting next chapter…

    Thanks for the chapter!

  13. KnightlyLoyal

    i don’t like this… when sun recovers he’s going to feel really guilty about what he did to ice >~<

  14. momiji

    yup… Grisia’s Sun knight image is ruined… but… he’s one heck of a mage a guy overflowing with holy light and yet he can use so much necromancy dark and light inside him just who the heck is Grisia? ._. Things are starting to get really interesting~
    Thanks for the translation!^_^

  15. StarWarrior

    Grisia, keep it up and Ecilian will never give you any sweets in the future. Is it bad that i wanted to scream at the monitor for Grisia to recognize Ice and regain his memory even though it’s still too early? Anyways, great job!

  16. Rinrin

    i think ecilan will have trouble keeping his “self” with what grisia is doing. i mean, who wouldn’t? i’m still not convinced scarlet is pink. smells like the shadow church though. grisia’s got to remember quick or else he’s gonna answer to his teacher for losing that water element crystal.

    • AC

      @Rinrin
      Oh, no…
      I feel like kicking myself for not having realized this. I completely forgot about the water element crystal, the only thing I could think of was Dragon’s Saint Brigandine…

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @AC
      His teacher is going to kill him when he finds him again…I wonder if it will be his teacher who finds him first or the twelve holy knights…Is it bad that i want his teacher to find him first?

  17. Setry

    Thank you very much for your efforts translating the story! ^_^
    I wonder who the person in the beginning of this volume was, saying “Grisia, you can never escape, never…” maybe it was Pink, her revenge for destoying her body? Can’t wait to read more xD the storys are really awesome! >w<

  18. MNeilG

    again, thank you for the translation!

    poor Ecilan. and if Grisia regained his memories, i bet he would be so heartbroken with what he did to his own holy knights! especially to one of his closest firends, the Ice Knight!

  19. kitsunewannabe

    I cried, “Noooooo! How could you treat Ecilan so?” and “Sybil! Yuna! KEEP YOUR GRUBBY MITTS OF MY- er I mean, our(the fans’) Ice Knight!”
    OH! but I have a question. They ran off at full speed to find Sun…How come nobody brought any snacks as bait? I mean really, it’s not that hard. You set a snare trap with sugar cookies and BAM! Easiest. Rescue mission. Ever.
    Oh, oops, unless ??????’s motto is “Come to the dark-side, we have cookies AND lollipops.”

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @Winter
      That’s a really good guess as to how sun got in this mess in the first place truly it wouldn’t be that hard to set a trap with Blueberry pie and have Sun come running and get ensnared in a trap and then flung all the way to Kissenger

  20. Arisa

    If Grisia keeps on treating Ice this way he is never going to recieve another dessert from Ice….Hurry up and remember that you are the Sun Knight, Grisia!!!!

    • Gohankuten

      @Jasae Bushae
      Same when we first saw Scarlet it seemed so obvious that it was Pink’s new avatar but because it was so obvious I was hoping for something else. But this chapter pretty much cements the fact that Scarlet=Pink’s new avatar. Either that or some other random person wants to make Grisa learn necromancy(and lets be honest who else other than Pink would want that?)

    • @Gohankuten
      Don’t write it off yet! I might be grasping at straws, but if it is Pink, why not just train Grisia from the beginning instead of leaving him with amnesia in the forest? It would’ve been the perfect opportunity. She could’ve passed herself off as his teacher, and he probably would’ve believed her since she knows so much about him.

      Rather than making him her apprentice, it almost seems like Scarlet’s goal is to destroy Grisia. Not merely kill him, but tarnish his reputation as the Sun Knight and force the Church of Light to have no choice but to turn against him. Scarlet must’ve known Ecilan was in the same town when she guided Grisia to the unicorn. And anyone who knows Grisia’s true personality even a little could’ve guessed he’d make a run for it. If he starts learning necromancy, which the Church of Light is absolutely against, and ends up attacking people with it, then even if the Holy Knights wanted to rescue him at first, it wouldn’t be that simple anymore, especially with witnesses.

      While this might be stretching it, I’m just saying don’t stop trying to think of other possibilities when it hasn’t been decided yet! TT_TT Yu Wo loves to trick her readers after all.

    • Gohankuten

      @黒
      She also loves to make the obvious be true and make us try and tick ourselves into thinking she is trying to trick us and thus tricks us by not tricking us. And the only people that know Grisia’s true personality and would want to teach him necromancy(if it is being used as a tool for destroying his image) would still be Pink alone since while other enemies of his know he is not the way a Sun Knight should be they don’t have the full grasp of his personality that would be required to pull off such an elaborate trap as the one you predicted.

    • Jasae Bushae

      @Gohankuten
      umm….anyone who wanted an excuse to cut sun down for going against the ways of the sun knight?
      though taking the form of a little girl while knowing where he was in a shadow god country and wanting him to learn necromancy does narrow it down to pink and…a servant of pink ^^: kinda a short list XD

    • AC

      @Jasae Bushae
      Common… Somewhere in the commentaries above (very above) proposed Sun had a evil twin (actually proposed he could use it as an excuse, but nevermind). Why couldn’t Pink have an “evil” twin too?!!
      Also, knowing where Grisia is isn’t that difficult. I am under the impression that Roland can sense him when they’re close enough, maybe due to some light-darkness contrast, so maybe Grisia is like a beacon to the Shadow God’s followers,

    • Jasae Bushae

      @AC
      im having trouble bending my mind around the idea of pink having an EVIL twin ^^; this being the girl who killed leaf as a distraction and wanted to swap torture methods with sun XD
      pink seems like the sort of person who could be sseen as good or evil depending on whether she likes you….come to think of it some would describe grisla as that way too ^^;

  21. Azyvli

    Ice…! And Sun.. *facepalm* He shouldn’t mock himself.. Thanks for the chapter! :D

  22. Winter

    oh noes, You better snap back into it again Sun or your future sweets will be a distant dream!

  23. Listening Daisy

    Thanks for the new chapter, I woke up this morning and a grumpy mood, and this made me smile (a bit evilly on some parts though). Also, (I may be wrong) but I heard somewhere, that Pink and Scarlet are 2 different people.

  24. kuroneko13

    oh my~! through this whole chapter i kept thinking ‘now how will grisia react when he remembers who he is~?’ ^3^ waaaah~ thank you for the chapter~~~~

  25. Png_pyro

    Hmm, now if he tries to summon a death knight, what are the chances of him getting Roland?

    • Gohankuten

      @Png_pyro
      I would say 0% chance since Roland is no longer a death knight since he evolved to a death lord(or whatever it was) so it would make no sense. But then since this is Grisa we are talking about I would put the chance at 95% due to Grisa being so awesome he defies logic.

    • Gohankuten

      @Jasae Bushae
      Storm would be immediately classified as a death lord. He would skip right past knight and go straight to lord due to the huge grudge he would carry against Grisia and the impossibility of getting out of owing Grisia a favor.

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @Gohankuten
      True his “hatred” for sun is so deep he would skip over all that dying, being resurrected as a death knight and then turning into a death and lord and just go straight to death lord

  26. NanoLaughing

    DON’T YOU DARE SUMMON A DEATH KNIGHT SUN! YOU BAKA!! btw, seriously hilarious, can’t believe he actually kidnapped Ecilan. Bwahaha i was yelling comments the whole time in my house. My sister looked at me oddly xD

  27. Darkgrirmora

    Ummm is it just me or does anyone else want to see grisia fall down or… trip in midair… in order to see him reflexively use his uncany falling gracefully skills in front of them XD?!! You know help complete the image of the graceful sun knight :D
    Sorry for commenting again I’ll stop now ….. Well I’ll try to anywa- *shot*

    • Winter

      @Darkgrirmora
      i would love to see that. XD if he could feel the necessarily not to fall off a horse it probably can reflectively fall gracefully.

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @Darkgrirmora
      Nope you’re not the only one…but wait since he fell down the horse “ungracefully” would that mean he wouldn’t trip in midair gracefully?

  28. Thanks once again for the chapter! And, I’ve been wondering for a while now, but do the novels have illustrations in them? And if so, is it possible to post them?

    • [PR]dahlys

      There’s a small poster in each volume, but you’ll have to find someone willing to scan their precious book(s).

    • [PR]lucathia

      @黒
      The poster is basically the same as the cover, which PR has included over at the novel synopses page.

    • @[PR]dahlys @[PR]lucathia
      That’s interesting. I always thought all light novels came with black & white illustrations scattered throughout them. Are the posters just enlarged versions of the covers, or do they extend the pictures?

  29. KuwaNeko

    oh god, Grisia is soooo cruel, such a bully
    and Ice too sweet… he totally let himself get captured

    lol, Sybil would carry Sun for a week, if only he weren’t the terrible guy he is, I think I’d also like to escape… and Ice is pretty handsome too…

    Ice saying he’s never expected to hear his name pronounced correctly by Sun… It’s must be painful, but, what’s Sun’s nickname for Ice?

    Thanks for the translation

    • Gohankuten

      @KuwaNeko
      Eclair is what Grisa calls Ecilan by occasionally if you read the side story. And it makes sense considering the job Ecilan is given by Grisia of supplying sweets.

    • [PR]dahlys

      Not Eclair but Wastelan. Eclair’s too nice a nickname for Grisia to give it to someone =p The Chinese nickname for Ecilan essentially means “rotten”, or “soggy”.

    • [PR]lucathia

      @Gohankuten
      PR will not be using Eclair as a nickname, as it doesn’t carry a close enough meaning to his original nickname in Chinese (meaning explained by dahlys in the comment above this one).

  30. lena

    I think what will happen to Sun because he hurt Ice…
    Remember that Ice have the power over Sun.
    Keyword: Sweets XD

  31. kazen

    I got the feeling that when Grisia try the ‘Summoning Death Knight’ spell, he summon Roland instead.

    • @AC
      When I read the “summoning a death knight” part, I took it to mean ‘creating’ a death knight rather than ‘calling’ one. Did anyone else read it that way? I wonder if the wording is clear cut in Chinese.

    • Gohankuten

      @黒
      That’s what I read it as as well. Usually when summoning is used in cases like this it means creating instead of calling. It may be more clear cut in Chinese since I know summoning in English has the 2 similar but different definitions to it.

    • AC

      @黒
      But to create a death knight. you need a corpse who has a great amount of resentment. It can’t be THAT commom… That’s why I think the chances of him summoning Roland are high.

    • @AC
      But why would it matter if it’s not common? Just because it’s stated at the end of the chapter doesn’t necessarily mean it’s foreshadowing.

  32. kayue

    Aww… Grisia tucking in his teammate, even after they told him they were leaving him. Now who’s ‘Mother-Knight’?
    (Granted he’d be the kind of tough mother who’d steal his kids lunch money to teach them how to survive penniless in the world. ;)

    Seriously, Grisia had abandonment issues.
    Loose his twelve knight family due to amnesia? Pick up hapless adventurers group to compensate.

    • KuwaNeko

      @kayue
      yes, Grisia can be rather caring when he wants to… …. when he reaaaally wants to….

      and…. of course he’s got abandonment issues, what orphan wouldn’t, the simple fact that he became Sun Knight to have 11 brothers by his side… pretty much says just that.

    • immasweetslovinggirl

      @KuwaNeko
      Now i just feel bad for Sun instead of Ice…I still feel bad for Ice for havingsuch a twisted leader but hey not all people can be like Leaf, saints through and through.

  33. Erenu

    mmm……..just thinking: didn´t Sun promised Pink that he would be her Apprentice after he Died? the only reason He did not want to learn new dark spells was he being the Sun Knight…..but by erasing this thought….is Pink /scarlet making him fullfile his promise….even amnesic?….So he must be dead……but…..
    it is supposed that with the Favour of the God Of Light, Sun knight cannot die….so Grisia is still having the favour of the god of light….so he is not dead yet……so why is pink/scarlet making him to learn dark magic?mmmm……..arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhhhh!!!cannot waittttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!

    thank you very much for this chapter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    poor comrades….when they learn who Grisia is…..Sybil is going to be heartbroken….

    • dollyfishe

      @Jasae Bushae
      i remember somewhere that grisia promise pink to be her apprentice even before his death … emmm somewhere around the time he got that blood sucking silver armor ?? i forgot the armor name @@

    • Jasae Bushae

      @dollyfishe
      yeah~ because he had worked out how to tackle pig king and needed a spell from pinky thus offered to become her apprentice right away in exchange :3

  34. dollyfishe

    aaah … how come everyone said that Ice wont say anything coz his Ice Personality ? i think it’s just coz he’s trying to understand the current Sun, and to keep an eye on Sun, so that he keep his quiet.
    for somehow i feel that scarlet is pink, but surely something is off @@
    anyway, thanx for the updating. i was totally forget as i avoid the net for this weekend, but suddenly remember the update should be up ehehehehehhe and thank you for the good laugh ^__^

  35. TANy

    Poor Ice… It’s supper hilarious to see how Ie nows who Sun is but Sun doesn’t know even who he is.
    When Sun recovers his memories Ice is going to kill him… or not giving him sweets which is worse for Sun.
    Thanks for the translation, when I saw the new chapter I was: “Yay! Now I am super-mega-hyper-happy!!!”

  36. Ozzien

    Poor Ice. You can practically hear him going “Hint hint… HINT HINT!!!”

  37. Andi

    OK, so far, here is my theory so far as to what happened: The Cathedral of the Shadow God found out what Sun did to Pink and Awaitsun, and decided they want this person who has been apprenticed to Pink to be a full time necromancer for them. They somehow called Sun out (either they stole his Eternal Tranquility and told him to come alone if he wants it back or just directly called him out). Because of his fear of losing another of his brothers (especially to the Cathedral of the Shadow God) Sun came alone, but with the Divine Sun Sword. He then fought and somehow was overwhelmed (either the opponent was stronger than he thought, or they had backups… perhaps they used the corpses from the execution ground and Grisia ended up fighting an undead army?) Anyway, losing was immanent, and so Sun used the wind magic he learned from Alice. Not wanting to involve his brothers in a fight that very well could result in another death, Sun teleported or flew as far away as he possibly could (and landed with a bang where that adventurer team found him). Due to the impact of his desperate escape (or b/c of Scarlet), Sun lost his memory. Now the person who was out to bring him back (whom I suspect to be another lych named Scarlet) is trying to convince him that he is a necromancer and will attempt to bring him to embrace the Cathedral of the Shadow God. This is what I suspect currently, any thoughts?

    • @Andi
      Interesting theory! Not sure about the undead army though. I think there would’ve had to have been a lot to be effective against Sun, but there was no evidence, like leftover bones or ash, to suggest it.

      I think it’s possible he could’ve used wind magic, but even if it’s Sun, I’m doubtful that he’d be able to teleport all the way to Kissinger without a magic circle. And if he flew, it would’ve taken at least a few days. Why not just fly an hour outside the city? My guess is that who/whatever he fought is the one who teleported him.

    • Charbz

      @Andi
      I think the same, that Scarlet is another Liche. The whole colour for a name thing.
      First there’s Pink, and now there is Scarlet (Red Poem originally). If there are any more liche, then they’ll probably be some other colour like Teal or Purple!
      Maybe there is a fight between the Liche for who can get Sun over to the dark side!
      With Sun being an orphan, who knows where he came from before, maybe he was originally raised to be a powerful mage, but for some reason he also lost his memory of that time and instead wanted to have a family, like someone said before, and in his young mind, the Sun Knight was someone with a big family.

  38. d1r31

    Ecilan is so loyal & true… But will he kill Sun once he is safe at home & has recovered his memory?!?
    It’s good that Scarlet is making good use of this amnesia to properly train Grisia in the black arts. He will be stronger because of this. But now he’ll have more to hide!
    I love the “willing-to-carry” measuring stick for handsomeness!
    The poor unicorn probably feels torn between two loves!

    Thank you for the translation! I love this story!

  39. Triellan

    Do not forget the First Rule of the 12 Holy Knights, “No Matter what Happens, the Sun Knight is Perfect”

  40. Weatherwax

    This part of this sentence is kind of hard to follow: “…they became as easy of targets as what walls would be.” How about… “They became targets as easy to hit as walls”? Or something like that?

  41. Karencita

    Thank god Prince Revolution exists, how else could i read LOTSK in english?

  42. Southrufus

    I think there is an important question to ask: Who could beat Sun when he’s not holding back?

    Judge is considered as good as Ice as a Swordsman.
    What About Neo?

    • MNeilG

      @Southrufus
      Grisia may be afraid of Neo, but isnt Neo afraid of Grisia too? remember the seal he placed on Grisia (from one of the side stories) so that Grisia wont be coming after him for revenge for his spartan-style “training”? and now that Grisia lost his memories…

    • Charbz

      @Southrufus
      It looked like Ice would have beaten Sun if he didn’t take the mask off, but Sun maybe is limited because of his amnesia, so not sure.

    • beta

      @Charbz
      Very limited. Remember, he’s already had the epiphany that high-level spells are just different combinations of lower-level spells stacked on top of each other. And on top of that he saw a lot of powerful spells during the princess rescue volume. And he’s technically Pink’s apprentice.

      Come to think about it, if he ever had to defeat a powerful mage he could just reveal this stuff. The poor mage would probably commit suicide at the sheer unfairness of the world.

    • Gohankuten

      @Southrufus
      I don’t think anyone could beat Grisia one on one when he’s not being held back by the seal called being a knight. I mean even Neo was scared of what Grisia could do if he wasn’t sealed by being a knight. Now if some of them worked together they may have a chance but if it’s one on one then I really don’t think Grisia can be defeated if he is not holding back.

  43. Ely

    poor Ice knight always being used as a guinea pig by Sun for necromancy spells

  44. noodlecharm

    Yay! new chapter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ll start reading now =D… Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuper excited !!!

  45. noodlecharm

    Hang on Ice!!!!!!!!!! and take care of Sun!!!!!!!!! hahaha… Sun just insulted himself… “Is the Sun Knight a girl? Your entire description seems to be describing a gorgeous beauty!”…
    Poor Ecilan. Sun forgot his memory…

  46. Sevenxin

    I have a feeling that Scarlet is actually a dragon and she’s leading Grisia to her lair (where she’s keeping the Eternal Tranquility) and that she send the unicorn on this mission to find him. maybe she need his help and don’t want to scare him by show him her true form, and i also have a feeling that the necromancy book is actually the one Pink given him back in book 2. Don’t ask me how i can proved my theories cause i can’t lol, it’s just a gut feeling. I also feels that the church of the dark god has “something” to do with all this, but i’m not sure what it is yet.

  47. mythee

    I feel so sorry for Sun. He’ll be in so much pain when he realizes how much he’s hurt the people he cares about the most. His loyalty and protectiveness of his fellow knights was the only thing he really held true to his heart.

  48. Siluna

    LOL. This chapter has confirmed it for me. The unicorn would LOVE living at the Holy Temple. Seriously, I think the only people he wouldn’t like are Roland (due to Dark Lord status) and Earth… maybe.

    • lulumoon

      @Siluna
      Can’t forget Moon. He has a girlfriend. And we haven’t heard much about Stone and Metal.

  49. shiro

    XD wow Grisia sure is on a role. to think he would even test on Ice….this isn’t going to end well. Judgements so going to get him when he gets back. I don’t think Scarlet is Pink though their personalities seem…different in a way.

  50. amberwing

    I am soooooo looking forward to the next chapter. who shows up next? Is it Blaze? Leaf? Will they go to where Awaitsun is? Will Grisia remember who he is? Will Grisia end up with all the Holy Knights in chains of darkness around him (LOL), all of them trying to get him to remember himself?

    • Gohankuten

      @amberwing
      Bigger question is will Woodrow and them realize that Grisia is the Sun Knight and thus realize their lives are in grave danger for finding out a secret noone other than the 12 holy knights should know?

  51. Mouse

    Wow, Grisia can be evil if he isn’t a Sun Knight…I felt sorry for Ice, being the guiena pig. Can’t wait to read the next chapter xD

    • Reika

      @Mouse
      This really shows why Neo “sealed” Grisia. Without the seal of a knight, Grisia would be super scary!

      I feel so sad for Ice, especially since the non-amnesiac Grisia actually likes Ice so much that Lesus thought that out of all the people in the world, Grisia would propose to Ice first.

  52. 15B

    Ice… You are amazing, being able to put up with that thing we once thought of as Grisia.

    -.- And whatever is that monster which replaced Sun, I want to slap you! And see you beg Ice for forgiveness lest he refuse to bake blueberry pie for you ever again!

  53. bmwerks

    OMG! i love this chapter! Ecilan should have told Sun who he was. Telling him that he “shouldn’t use necromancy in front of them” is of no use to him! He needs to say something before the “image of the sun knight” is totally ruined… can you imagine what Neo would do to him if he found out????? But i love to see that Sun is really evil and only being held in by what is expected of him.
    BUT i saw a brand new side to Sun today, i understand why he said the thing about having 11 brothers to stand by him to Neo. i guess him being an orphan has given him abandonment issues and i guess even though he doesnt have a good relationship with Georgo(its earth right?) he would move heaven and earth to protect him. Thanks for the chap PR!!

      Soon, in the most vague way you can think of.~

  54. AC

    The first time I read this chapter, my reactions were so strongly absurd that even I am a little frightened. So I’ll skip the part about how much I loved the chapter and jump to my conclusions:
    1-) PEOPLE, STOP SAYING GRISIA IS EVIL!!! He cares for his friends (and even for these filfthy adventurers who dared to say they’re going to abandon him!) and that’s all he’s expected to care abput. Right now, he completely forgot about the 12 Holy Knights, so his protective side is focused in that scum that mistook him for a cleric (Yes, I hate them. They are being mean to Grisia!).
    2-)Grisia will HATE himself when he remembers who he is and realizes he hurt Ice. I pity him.
    3-) I pity Ice too. It’s not an easy matter to be used as a guines pig by the likes of Grisia. Also, he must be feeling pretty sad. I think Blaze is not the only of the 12 Holy Knights who admires Sun. All of them must know, at some degree, how much Grisia cares for them. Even Earth must know it, but probably only chooses to ignore. Being hurt by your leader, and having the person who taught you to never give up your companions calling you “naïve”…
    4-) Grisia will end up summoning Roland, and Roland will find a way to contact Judgement.

    • starnorma

      @Hibatsumu18
      “Since he “had no other comments,” I continued flipping through the book. Summoning a death knight…” It’s obvious he’s going to try that, and considering how ridiculously powerful Grisia is, doesn’t it make sense that instead of a death knight, he’ll get a death lord aka Roland instead?

    • @AC
      Ice probably feels a little sad, but I’m sure he also knows what Sun’s personality is like. If anything, I bet he feels worse for Grisia than himself.

  55. immasweetlovinggirl

    I love this series i read almost all the volumes in one day and i can’t wait to read the next chapter and the most motivating thing is im learning chinese right now so if i keep praticing on the chracters and everything i want to be able to order all the volumes and read them in the priginal chinese…Yay!

  56. Bites

    If only Ice made Sunsome sweets, wouldn’t that jog Sun’s memories back to him?

  57. Anonymous

    @beta
    *envisions a plotline in which the memories-returned Sun Knight has to embark on a public quest to take down his widely-talked-about-and-feared amnesiac self (while hiding that of course that person isn’t actually out there to be taken down…)*

    I’ve more or less aimed to avoid any hints about what happens in later volumes, but it feels as though that would be an incredibly amusing story. (As well as this one, and the ones before it… ahh, such a wonderful author..!)

  58. NeoWarrior

    How Grisia will explain his behavior to Ice:

    I was on a secret mission to the Shadow God lands in order to locate a dangerous item that was stolen from my belongings. Since these were the Shadow God’s territory, acting out to be a Necromaner was the best way to hide from them, since using Holy magic would make me their target instantly. When you came along, I had to continue the act, and that involved acting cruelly; of course I would’ve NEVER killed you or hurt you permanently Brother Ice!

    Please forgive Sun’s lapse in judgement! Cake? Why you shouldn’t have… HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!!!

    How Grisia will explain his behavior to his new team:

    By the God of Light, my presence was required in these lands for a terrible event that was fortold. These lands being territory belonging to the Cathedral of the Shadow God, poor me had to play his part and sink lower into the currents of deceitfulness in order to hide my presence and go about on my holy mission. I do hope that you do not take my behavior in stride, as a holy knight I must do what is best for the people, even if not the best for myself…

    “…” you don’t believe me? Well, then how about this? If you say anything about me or what happened I’ll kill you.

    “!!!” We have a deal, hehehe…

    How Grisia will explain his behavior to Judgement Knight:

    Well… you see… I lost my memories and forgot how I was supposed to act… Why are you looking at me like that…?

    Theory:
    1) Sun will turn Ecilan into a Death Knight
    2) Pink and Scarlet are to the Dark God what Sun and Judgement are to the Light God.
    3) Sun will, eventually, be the ONLY non-Death Lord/Knight of the 12 Holy Knights.

  59. teron

    Considering Roland’s focus on sword training, the unicorn might be fine with him.
    Imaging the confusion of some poor townspeople at having a death lord ride into town on a unicorn inquiring about any quests for smiting evil.

  60. AC

    I just realized something… Either Sun lost his memories because something fell really hard in his head, or because of magic, but I believe magic is more plausible. Then why half of us readers have spent our time worrying about the adventurers finding out Sun’s identity? He’ll probably be able to wipe their memories clean anyway…

  61. dundun

    Ever since I read this chapter I’ve been screaming in horror in my head. “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.”

  62. Vae

    God. I literally face palmed so many times in this chapter… XD After all that Ice had done for Sun, making shaved ice and baked goods for him etc, Sun treats him as “a naïve idiot” and a guinea pig… *shakes head* *sigh* But I laughed so hard when Sun started talking bad about himself! He’s gonna regret that later for sure! I can’t wait until the moment he regains all his memories again.
