Update: January 2012 – Tournament Round 3-4

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to 2012!

Unfortunately, after some deliberation we decided to take a month’s break from translating, so there will be no chapters this month (For one, we did 6 chapters last month, and two, I personally have a concussion at the moment which makes editing of any sort rather difficult). However, to make up for that, starting in February we’re going to start churning chapters out at a faster rate!

Sorry for the late news, and enjoy the next few rounds of the tournament! (We’ll announce the fanfiction contest winners later this month.)

Round 3

Who would win in a fight between Lolidragon and Storm Knight?

Characters
LOLIDRAGON
Name: Lolidragon (小龙女 prn. xiăo lóng nǚ)
Race: Elf; Class: Thief
In short: A great and unscrupulous beauty. She is a hidden GM and a walking Second Life encyclopedia. Is aware of Prince’s true identity.
Lolidragon is a hidden GM in Second Life and is the only person in Odd Squad who knows about Prince’s real gender and identity, being the GM who helped Feng Lan create her character. She is often described as a great beauty, but beneath her looks lurks a pervert who has no qualms about attacking Prince’s virtue. She is also a notorious spendthrift.

Although Lolidragon often appears to be rather irresponsible and flighty, she often plays the role of an elder sister or mentor to Prince, and watches out for the latter quite frequently. She initially posed as Prince’s wife in order to deter other female players from approaching or harassing Prince, but the two of them dropped this pretense when the ploy failed to deter Rose and Fairsky from pursuing Prince romantically.

Intially, Lolidragon considered herself to be a more experienced – and hence superior – player compared to Prince. However, she quickly realized that Prince’s unconventional fighting style and innovativeness, both of which stemmed from the latter’s unfamiliarity with regular methods of gameplay, allowed him to exploit Second Life‘s 99% realism to the fullest. As such, Lolidragon’s fighting style also grew more and more unconventional, using moves such as Chun Li’s Helicopter Kick and abilities such as Burrowing.

At the conclusion of the Adventurers’ Tournament, Lolidragon snatched victory from Dark Emperor by stomping Feng Wu Qing to death. Since then, the two of them have been at loggerheads.

It should be noted that Lolidragon’s in-game name literally means “Little Dragon Girl” and is a reference to a character of the same name from Jin Yong’s The Return of the Condor Heroes.

THE STORM KNIGHT
“More reports to write again…” Real name: ???
Age: 20+
Hair color: Blue (dyed); Eye color: Green
Widely regarded as: A carefree, footloose charmer, the knight-representative of “freedom”.
One of the members of the “good, warm-hearted” faction, the Storm Knight is, unfortunately enough for him, one of Sun’s subordinates. He may be the knight-representative of “freedom” and hence able to skip meetings on a regular basis, but for that very reason, most of the work – especially Sun’s – usually gets pushed onto him.

Also, despite the Storm Knight’s reputation as a flirt, this particular Storm Knight seems to still be a virgin…

Round 4

Who would win in a fight between Nan Gong Zui and The Son of the God of War?

Characters
NAN GONG ZUI
Name: Nan Gong Zui
Race: Human; Class: Warrior
In short: The general of Infinite Hamlet, captain of Righteous Blades. A very loyal and protective man, who is also skilled at a leader and warrior.
THE SON OF THE GOD OF WAR
Real name: Mike
Age: 20+
Hair color: Black; Eye color: Black
Widely regarded as: One of the strongest warriors in the world, very strong and agile and a master swordsman.
Tournament and Contest Rules

Tournament Rules:

  1. In a comment, state who you think would win and why. You must give a solid reason in order for your vote to be counted (not X is hotter than Y). Remember, this is a fighting tournament not a beauty pageant!
  2. One clear winner only. No ties.
  3. One vote per person.
  4. At the end of the month we’ll count up all votes and announce the winner at the start of the next match. Winners will proceed to the next round of the tournament.
  5. The tournament takes place much like the Adventurers’ Tournament, in a stadium filled with spectators, with no outside interference allowed. The match ends by concession or death.

Writing Competition:

We are having an additional writing competition on top of the tournament. This will be separate from the monthly competitions we have in the forum and the challenge will be the same every time:

In no more than 2000 words, write a scene for how this month’s match would go.

For example, write what would happen if Prince and Sun fought. What techniques would they use and how would they counter? This can be a pure fight scene, or it can include dialogue. How it proceeds is all up to you! Ties are allowed. A writing competition entry is seperate from the tournament and will have no effect on the the tournament’s outcome. You will have to vote in the tournament separately.

PR! Staff will vote on the winner based how which entry is the most realistic/has the most chance for coming true. The winner will receive a chapter preview for the series of their choice.

To enter, email your writing to admin@princerevolution.org! The deadline for Rounds 3 and 4 is January 31st.

Round 2

Who would win in a fight between Ming Huang and Blaze Knight?

Click to view at full size.

Characters
MING HUANG
Name: Ming Huang (明皇 prn. míng huáng)
Race: Human; Class: Mage
In short: Wicked’s brash and arrogant younger brother. Despite his effeminate looks, he is a mage of considerable power.
A very feminine-looking and hot-headed fellow, Ming Huang bears a grudge against Prince when the latter mistakes him for a girl, thus sparking their first conflict. Interestingly enough, he seems to swear more violently than any other character. He is also Wicked’s younger brother in real life. As a mage, Ming Huang specializes in lightning-type magic, which is particularly destructive.
THE BLAZE KNIGHT
“Sun!” Real name: ???
Age: 20+
Hair color: Red; Eye colour: Amber
Widely regarded as: A person with fiery red hair with a temper to match, and who worships the Sun Knight.
A member of the “good, warm-hearted” faction, Blaze is one of the rare members whose real personality matched the Blaze Knight persona. He is a strong swordsman who also specializes in purifying flames that could cleanse the spirit.

Update: November 2011 – Merchandise, Tournament, and Plurking

November 2011 Chapters

  1. ½ Prince V6C2: Shock! The True Identity of Yu Lian-dàsăo
  2. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C10: “Recruit Worshippers”
  3. The Legend of Sun Knight V2Extra: “Respect the Privacy of the Twelve Holy Knights”
  4. The Legend of Sun Knight V2Epilogue: Character Introductions

First and foremost, a quick reminder that we’re still selling LSK doujin and calendars to all countries outside of North America. For those of you in NA, we’ve unfortunately had a delay with the US shipment, so it might be another month or so before we’re (finally) able to open ordering.

In related news, we were looking into some Yu Wo merchandise and managed to find merchants for the two following products: the ½ Prince Art Book and LSK Card Packs! We know that most fans who don’t speak Chinese are unable to gain access to such merchandise, so we’re going to start offering them through our store; we’ll basically act as a middleman. Below are the descriptions:

1/2 Prince Art Book

Information

  • ARTIST: Xiao Qiang (小强)
  • DESCRIPTION: 25+ full color pages.
  • PRICE: $15.00 USD
  • SHIPPING: To be decided (due to the weight and size of the books, it may be as much as $10)
LSK Card Pack

Information

  • ARTIST: Yuán Qì Chuàng Jiè (元气创界)
  • DESCRIPTION: 12 full color plastic cards, 9cm by 5.2cm
  • PRICE: $6.00 USD
  • SHIPPING: To be decided (shouldn’t be more than $3-4).

We are currently opening pre-ordering for both of these. The first five orders will get 10% off. Pre-ordering will only be open for November, at which point we’ll start accepting payments and shipping everything. We will not order another batch as this is just something we are doing in celebration of the winter holidays, so if you want one or both we recommend that you order now. Ordering will be done through our store. Because we don’t have the products yet, we can’t give a solid estimate on what shipping will be; it depends mainly on the size and weight of the packages. We will give an exact number closer to the end of the month—be warned, however, that shipping for the art book could be as much as $10 thanks to its size. Also, we might not be able to fulfill all the orders as we haven’t contact the merchants yet, hence we aren’t sure of the amount of merchandises that we could get in. People who orders earlier will have precedence. Alright…I think I have sufficiently warns all of you =p.

Again, orders will not be shipped until December.

Next up, we’re excited about all the feedback we’ve been getting for the tournament! We got a bunch of votes on the name, and the final winner is The “This is Not a Beauty Pageant” Tournament! Within the next few days a separate post will kick off the start of the tournament, including a full explanation on how things will go down.

And finally, a few things to note: The first volume of LSK will be up as a PDF later this month and we should have the bare-bones version of the next few HP volumes up soon as well. Over at the Staff Blog, Lucathia, one of our translators, has started to translate and post a few of Yu Wo’s plurks; basically a collection of her thoughts on random things while writing. It’s an interesting insight into who she is, so I definitely recommend that you check it out! You can find it either through the Staff Blog link in the menu bar or here.

Happy reading!

Update: October 2011 – New Members and a Tournament

October 2011 Chapters

  1. ½ Prince V6C1: The Conference of the Five Overlords
  2. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C8: “Build Good Relationships with Neighbors”
  3. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C9: “Spread the True Teachings of the God of Light”

Just the way a T-Rex chomps down on a steak, we—ok, this analogy isna working out the way I had planned to, and it’s probably giving you the wrong image of PR Staff… So let’s scrap that eh? This is Nabs here, one of the proofreaders that you don’t know exists, even though you’ve probably read the one other update I made (Yes, I know my output isna miraculous), so Hi Hi~~ *waves* So, this time I have news. Now this news can be classified into two categories (and as your Maitre d’ tonight, I suggest that you go for the latter): Good or Great.  Wait for it……………………………………………………………………………….WE HAVE NEW MEMBERS ZOMG!

As the result of opening up our recruitment again (Who are we kidding, translator slots are almost always open ^u^), we have new proofreaders and translators. Our proofreaders in the limelight tonight are Null, Icarus, Arcedemius, Xan, and Satoshi, and to join them are our new translators: Hyotai, Asmodea, Nausicaa, Azakura, and Bleachpanda! *clap* Give them a big hand everyone, even though theyv’e been here such a (comparatively) short time, they’ve already grown on me like cute chibi barnacles ^u^ Please be good to them, they’ll be a large factor in you reading your Yu Wo goodies… Oh, and don’t forget to feed them some brownies once in a while and scratch them behind the ears… They seem to like that as well ^u^

Now onto a different topic: Some really smart, observant (bored maybe?) readers of ours noticed that somehow our releases have been following a pattern of 1 HP chappie, 2 LSK chappies; 2 HP chappies, 1 LSK chappie. Now, I am here to reveal to you a biiiiiiiiiiiigggg secret: it was pure coincidence folks~~ As much as I would like to believe that the PR Staff bosses (Boss and Eili-Chan) are trying to hide some Illuminati symbolism or something along those lines, there’s no such luck (Alas, us young geniuses… actually, I shouldna include myself in there… I’m a proofreader and I never noticed the pattern -____-;;) So erm yeah… where was I? Oh yeah, guys, there’s no pattern, so be on the lookout for whatever wild chappies we release (gotta catch ‘em all~). And now I’ll hand you over to much more capable typing fingers (Oops, almost typed gingers there) for a real treat for you guys. Laters chya~~ (*^u^*)/~

—EvlNabiki

Hello guys! We’ve got a special new treat for our readers: We’re going to be hosting a 1/2 Prince vs Legend of the Sun Knight character tournament! Not sure what such a thing is? Basically, it’ll be our version of Second Life’s Adventurers’ Tournament. Each month we’ll pair two characters together, one from HP and one from LSK, and ask, “In a fight between these two, who would win and why?” You, our lovely readers, will get to vote on who would win and at the end of the month we’ll tally up all the votes and announce the winner. We’ll be doing this in tournament style, so winners will proceed to the next round for further battles.

Next month we’ll release the tournament brackets and begin the first fight. In the mean time, we present the following question: What should be the offical title of the tournament? In two weeks we’ll put everything you guys come up with a poll so you can vote on the name!

Happy reading!

Update: September 2011

September 2011 Chapters
  1. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C7: “Admonish the Misconduct of a Fellow Holy Knight”
  2. ½ Prince V5C7: A Cougar’s Unimaginable Love
  3. ½ Prince V5Extra: The Classified Files of the Five Continents’ Overlords

Hello everyone, sorry for the disaster last month. Hopefully this month will be much smoother when we get all the new proof-readers in >_< There’s nothing much to update here, except that there will be three chapter releases this month: 2 HP and 1 LSK.

From what I have gathered in the comments, most people aren’t annoyed at the speed of the releases, they are more annoyed at the lack of update that the release are going to be slow. I apologize for this, we will post something on the site to alert you all if we are going to be slow again >_< And thank you all for the supportive comments!

Lastly, we have over 20 applications for the proof readers now….can we have some applications for translators too? *puppy eyes* We have a few chapters stored away for steady releases…but with the speed we are releasing now, they aren’t going to be enough. So… Translators! Come on! Apply! =D

—Eilinel

As Eili said, thanks so much for all the applications! Due to the sheer amount and quality of the ones we’ve gotten so far, we’ve decided to close the position to applications tomorrow, instead of in a week and a half. So if you’d still like to apply, do so within the next 24 hours!

—S.R.

Sorry, sorry!

First off, we apologize for the extreme delay in this month’s chapters! The first half of HPV5C6 is up now and we promise to have the second half and the LSK chapters up in the next two days.

We are in desperate need of more editors! As such, the English Proof-reader position has opened up once more and we’re looking for 2-3 new members. Head on over to the recruitment page for more details! We’ll be accepting applications for the next two weeks, until September 13th.

On another note, we hope to have more volume compilations for LSK and HP up within the next month or two.

Happy reading!

Update: August 2011 – New LSK Calendar and SLP Update

August 2011 Chapters
  1. ½ Prince V5C6: The Bloody Overlord – Part 1
  2. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C5: “Solve a Colleague’s Problem”
  3. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C6: “Attend Various Ceremonies”
  4. ½ Prince V5C6: The Bloody Overlord – Part 2

Greetings!

First of all, thank you to everyone so far who has bought a doujin! If the North American sales go just as well, we’ll hopefully be able to convince YukiSora to print the second volume in English.

We have some more exciting news this month: YukiSora also has a 2011 & 2012 The Legend of Sun Knight calendar up for sale. She’s willing to start selling them to all of our readers, including those in North and South America. It’s a total of fourteen B5 size pages, all in full color. Here is the cover and slice samples of the pages:

These calendars are being sold for $5 USD each and there’s a shipping discount if you are ordering it with a doujin. Unfortunately, doujin orders for North America still aren’t available, but they should be within this month. You can find the order form up on the menu bar or here: http://www.princerevolution.org/orderform/

Also, for those of you who wanted to wait for more volumes to save on shipping, we have some relatively bad news. Because of the weight of the doujin and the weight classes that shipping is based on, shipping two or more doujin at one time costs pretty much the same as shipping them separately, so unfortunately shipping bulk won’t save you much. Shipping bulk does however mean that there’s less chance of anything happening to your package along the way—but we’re using registered post which means that your order is insured anyway =] Along with the fact that we can’t guarantee that there will be more volumes… We leave the decision up to you, we do recommend that you check out the prices now and see whether it will be cheaper for you to buy now or later, based on what country you are in.

As a side note to that, shipping in the United States will be cheaper in bulk; the above passage is mainly for international shipping.

Second Life Project, the 1/2 Prince video game project, has a new position opening up. Check out the information below and, if you’re interested, please apply! You can view the full application thread here.

Map Artists
A map artist is someone who puts together a fundamental part of the game: what the world actually looks like. The only requirement for this position is the ability to use photoshop. No drawing is required, merely the use of copying, pasting, and an interest in design. You will have a hundreds of images like this:

And you will use them to put together “maps” like this (click image to enlarge):

All resources will be provided for you; you just need to put things together.

To apply:

  1. Download this base map and resource images folder.
  2. Create your example map by taking images from the resources and putting them in the base map. IMPORTANT: Put up a 32 x 32 pixel grid in the .psd file while you work (if you don’t know how to do this, google how to change guides, grids, and slices). The player moves arond on 32 pixel squares, so furniture and walls must be similarly arranged so that the player can easily walk around them. For example, look at this map of an outpost with a highlighted grid and see how items are placed. You can see Prince near the entrance, to give you an idea of the size of the player in comparison.
  3. Upload the .png image file of your finished map to an image hosting site such as photobucket or imageshack.
  4. Email us at secondlifeprjct@gmail.com with the link to your example map. Please include a bit of information about how much time you have to work on the project and why you’d like to join!

If you have any questions about anything, just ask!

Update: July 2011

July 2011 Chapters
  1. ½ Prince V5C4: The Terrifying Side of a Self-aware NPC
  2. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C3: “Manage the City’s Undead”
  3. ½ Prince V5C5: A Man’s Daily Trifles
  4. The Legend of Sun Knight V2C4: “Take Care of the Members of Sun Knight Platoon”

Hello everyone!

We have good news for those of you who live outside the US: YukiSora, the doujin artist, has received her copies of the doujin. She has agreed to handle the shipping for all non-US buyers, so we’re opening ordering for you! If you would like to buy copy of the doujin, head on over to this page. The final price Yuki decided on is $9 USD, plus $2-3 for shipping.

For our US readers, sorry but you’ll still have to wait one more month. The 50 copies that are being sent to us will be just for US readers though, so you don’t have to worry about us running out of stock =]

(And for any new readers, you can find more information about the doujin here.)

This month we’ve update the Fan Creations section with a couple new submissions. In the Fanfiction Gallery we have a new story from chicaalterego called Knight Apprentice’s Journal that they have dedicated to PR!, so go check it out! In the Fanart Gallery there are two new images from larka1121, Fire Pheonix and Meatbun and The Knights Meet. There’s also a preview image for Blique’s fanvideo Rainbow Love Letters. You can follow the link on that video or go ahead and watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LwQDX9AlSQ.

On that note, we’re actually working on putting up a separate Video Gallery in Fan Creations. With luck it’ll be up sometime this month, so if you have anything you’d like to submit, be on the look out for another update!

As mentioned in another post last month, we also badly need Chinese/English editors! For that reason we’re temporarily shutting down translator applications until we get caught up with editing. If you’d like to translate, feel free to apply for C/E editor and request to be moved to translating later on.

Happy reading!
